The Opportunity: CACI is seeking a skilled Composites Specialist to join our team in support of prototype development and low-rate production of unmanned aerial systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with composite layup, tooling preparation, part trimming and finishing, and minor structural repairs. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and build instructions, and a strong background in composite fabrication processes used in aerospace applications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform layup and fabrication of composite parts using wet layup, vacuum bagging, and other composite techniques
- Prepare molds and tooling for use in fabrication, including cleaning, sealing, and applying release agents• Trim, fit, and finish composite components using hand tools and power tools by engineering requirements
- Interpret and follow build instructions, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
- Identify and report fabrication defects or deviations from design specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety and quality standards
- Work collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to support rapid prototyping and production builds
Qualifications: Required:
- Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one
- Experience in composite part fabrication, including layup, vacuum bagging, curing, and trimming
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, build instructions, and technical specifications
- Familiarity with the use of composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, epoxy resins, and core materials
- Proficiency with hand and power tools used for trimming, sanding, and finishing composite parts
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environment
- Ability to lift and manipulate medium to large parts and work in a shop environment
Desired:
- Experience supporting prototype or low-rate production builds in an aerospace or defense environment
- Knowledge of composite repair techniques and rework procedures
- Familiarity with pre-preg layup and oven/autoclave curing processes
- Experience documenting fabrication processes or contributing to build documentation

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$75,200 - 158,100 USD
