The Opportunity:

Seeking a motivated Software Quality Engineer Intern to support the QA and Test Engineering team with improving and maintaining our automated test framework. This role will focus heavily on refactoring existing automated tests, troubleshooting and resolving broken tests, improving test reliability, and assisting with modernization of the automation codebase. The intern will work directly under the Test Team Lead to support ongoing test automation initiatives across integration, regression, and end-to-end testing efforts within a fast-paced Agile environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Refactor and reorganize existing automated test suites for maintainability and scalability
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and repair failing or unstable automated tests
  • Assist with improving automation framework structure and reusable utilities
  • Update outdated test logic to align with current application functionality
  • Improve test execution stability and reduce flaky test behavior
  • Support regression testing activities across multiple environments
  • Assist with organizing test assets, scenarios, and reporting
  • Review test results and document findings/issues
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, and DevOps personnel to resolve automation-related issues
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement
  • Help improve automation coverage and requirement traceability

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in: Computer Science Software Engineering Information Systems Computer Engineering Or related technical field
  • Basic understanding of software testing concepts
  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java
  • Basic understanding of Git/version control
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn automation frameworks and CI/CD processes
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Desired:

  • Exposure to automated testing tools/frameworks such as: Playwright Cucumber Selenium

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

  • Understanding of API testing concepts

  • Exposure to Linux, Docker, or Kubernetes environments

  • Experience working with Jira or similar tracking tools

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$45,900 - $91,900
