Job Description:

The Senior Mainframe Storage Architect provides technical leadership for Broadcom's storage products, overseeing the architecture. This role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and Field teams to ensure that Broadcom storage products are engineered with a focus on security, high quality, and meeting customer requirements.

Education / Experience

• Bachelors of Computer Science degree or equivalent

• 17+ years of work experience in IBM z/OS and storage subsystems.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in IBM z/OS and core z/OS storage technologies

• Strong understanding of I/O subsystem design and performance

• Proven ability to diagnose complex storage issues across storage products, z/OS components, and underlying hardware.

• Experience working with enterprise storage features such as replication, flash technologies, mirroring, disaster recovery, and high availability configurations.

• Familiarity with storage security models, encryption options, and compliance considerations relevant to Broadcom customers.

• Ability to collaborate with product engineering teams to shape storage-related features, validate behavior, and ensure alignment with customer expectations.

• Strong customer facing skills to help customers design storage solutions that support high availability and disaster recovery.

• Effective communication skills to translate deep technical concepts into actionable guidance for engineering teams, support teams, and customers.

Cross-Portfolio Architecture Leadership

• Develop and promote best practices, architectural standards, and common technologies across the portfolio.

• Maintain clear and current written guidance for key architectural decisions.

• Ensure consistent adoption of architectural standards across supported teams.

Guidance Within the Data Management Value Stream

• Engage directly with architects and development teams through ongoing, two-way collaboration.

• Advise on architectural decisions, implementation approaches, development processes, and innovation opportunities.

• Mentor architects and engineers to strengthen technical depth and leadership.

• Ensure products follow security best practices and comply with all z/OS system integrity requirements.

• Monitor and enforce adherence to defined architecture and implementation standards.

Product and Strategy Collaboration

• Partner with product management and engineering to support strong product and value stream strategies.

• Balance technical debt, platform currency, and feature delivery to support long-term product health.

• Contribute architectural insight to planning, roadmaps, and execution.

Technology Awareness and External Engagement

• Stay current on emerging technologies and architectural trends that affect our products.

• Represent Broadcom at IBM disclosure meetings and other relevant industry forums and conferences.

• Engage with customers to understand their needs and advocate for them within the organization.

• Share insights and knowledge across teams to improve architectural maturity.

Thought Leadership and Customer Focus

• Publish technical papers and present at industry events as a recognized expert.

• Meet with customers to understand their challenges and help them successfully adopt Broadcom software.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $147,400 - $235,800

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
