What you’ll do
Brex is looking for a Staff brand designer to join the Design team, a cross-disciplinary group of creatives including product designers, brand designers, content design, operations, and marketing strategists. Our team’s mission is to build a category-defining brand and meaningfully move key business metrics by delivering world-class creative.
Your role will be to drive the evolution of Brex's brand identity system, pushing our visual language forward while maintaining cohesion across all touch points. You'll be instrumental in defining how our brand shows up in the world, from establishing new design patterns and brand expressions to reimagining our visual identity for the next phase of growth. This is a strategic and hands-on role that will require you to work closely with Marketing leaders, Web and Product teams, and creative partners to ensure our brand identity is distinctive, scalable, and reflects our ambition. You are a systems thinker who can envision the big picture while obsessing over the craft details that bring a brand to life.
Where you’ll work
This role will be based in our San Francisco, Seattle, or New York office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!
Responsibilities

Own and evolve Brex’s brand identity system, including visual language, typography, color, illustration, and brand patterns

Define and maintain brand standards that balance consistency with creative flexibility across teams and channels

Translate company strategy and brand vision into clear, compelling visual direction in partnership with leadership

Design and deliver new brand expressions that advance the identity while preserving recognition and equity

Lead high-impact brand work beyond the core system, including special campaigns, sub-brands, and select product or service launches

Art direct and contribute to brand campaigns, collaborating with external partners and internal teams to ensure exceptional craft

Provide guidance and feedback across the organization to raise the quality and effectiveness of brand execution
Requirements

7+ years of experience in brand design or art direction, with a strong focus on identity systems and brand evolution

A portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, system design, and high-quality execution across identities and campaigns

Deep expertise in typography, color, composition, and building scalable visual systems
-
Strong ability to articulate design decisions and build alignment with cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders

Experience working across multiple workstreams in fast-paced, evolving environments

Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with comfort prototyping and iterating quickly

Practical experience using AI tools in the creative process with sound judgment on when and how to apply them
Bonus points

Motion, video, or illustration experience applied to brand systems or campaigns

Experience art directing complex brand work with external creative partners
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $187,000 - $234,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
