ROLE SYNOPSISThe Senior Technologist in the Product & Claims Development team will execute and participate in projects that develop new lubricants and Claims for market deployment across spaces. As part of a high profile team incumbent will gain exposure to the processes involved in technical development and will need to network globally to make sure that the products meet the requirements of key customers and collaborators. The role
holder will work autonomously in delivery of projects and will develop and share expertise through the broader
team.
The role holder is expected to have proficiency in a number of core product development skills whilst seeking
to broaden their capability in other areas.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Execute and deliver of a range of development and test programmes to ensure new products can be
introduced to market and to understand any impacts observed. This will require effective planning, and documentation of results so that key breakthroughs are delivered on time and on budget.

  • The role requires the ability to innovate and solve complex problems
  • Accurately manage costs and forecasts for assigned projects.
  • Providing technical leadership by mentoring and advising the work of less experienced colleagues.
  • Building networks with both subject matter experts and operational staff within the technology to facilitate the delivery of programmes. These networks include product testing, product deployment, product quality, product stewardship, intellectual assets, and new product sciences.
  • Building effective networks outside of the technology function to include: suppliers of goods and Services, technical consultancies, OEMs, bp marketing, bp procurement and supply chain, bp Legal.
  • Regular communication and review of programme progress with the wider project team.
  • Develop & facilitate continuous improvement within the Product Development team.
  • Development of new and support for existing claims for Castrol’s engine oils within the bikes' product portfolio.

Build and implement a competitor analysis programme for key markets across the world and across
all market spaces and brands. Prioritise by market and brand and deliver specification profile and technical claim comparisons execution and insights from the data.

  • Apply competitor insights to the development of future claims for Castrol products. Identifying areas of
    strength in Castrol products or areas of weakness from competitors that could be utilised to strengthen
    Castrol’s brands in the market. Working with other members of the Claims and Demos team and with
    global/local marketing to deploy these.

EDUCATION:

  • Degree or equivalent in chemistry, engineering, PHD or related technical discipline.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Should have minimum 15 years of experience in Lubricants/ related product development experience.

  • Proven track record in delivering projects passionate about product development, engineering or
    research

  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to working

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in crafting novel work programmes.
