Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Drilling Well Site Leader to join our team in Indonesia. This is a safety-critical leadership role responsible for leading offshore operations in the Tangguh field, supporting Senior Well Site Leader, and supporting the onshore Wells team from Jakarta as needed.
In this position, you will help ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of well operations, delivering performance that meets or exceeds established metrics, in line with bp’s practices, procedures, and well programs.
Success in this role requires demonstrating strong, visible, and transparent leadership that consistently reflects bp’s values, supports a high‑performance culture, and promotes the highest standards of safety and integrity.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Establish and role model a strong safety, diversity, and leadership culture offshore.

Ensure site safety and environmental management systems are implemented as designed and fully aligned with bp’s internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Provide leadership and oversight for bp’s task level self verification and contractor oversight processes at the wellsite.
-
Ensure Well Control and other safety critical procedures are clearly understood and consistently applied by the team.

Facilitate and support logistics excellence, including quality planning and prioritization of materials, personnel movement, and supply chain operations to and from the wellsite.

Drive continuous improvement through high quality input into procedural planning and active participation in bp’s learning and improvement processes.

Ensure operational lessons related to safety, efficiency, and cost are captured and shared effectively.

Support the coaching and development of Wells local talent in the region.
Experience & Qualifications:
Experience and Technical Competencies:
-
Relevant proven experience as a Well Site Leader on jackups, platforms, drill ships, or semi‑submersible rigs.
-
Supervisory level Well Control certification from an accredited program such as IADC or IWCF.
-
Strengths you'll need: Personal & Process Safety, Team Management, Procedures and Practices, OMS, Risk Assessment, and Risk Management.

Technical subject‑matter competencies: Life‑of‑Well Design Consideration, Equipment Integrity Assurance, Well Integrity, Well Control, Performance Management, Slickline, Electric Line, Tubular Handling, Cementing, Drill String Handling, Wellhead and Tree Installation, Directional Drilling, and Surveying techniques.

Key Relationships:
The WSL will work closely with the Senior WSL and the Wells Superintendent and will be expected to cultivate strong working relationships with bp operational and engineering teams, contractors, and well services personnel at the field level.
Additional Key Interfaces Include:

Onshore wells engineering and operational teams.

The Remote Operations Center (ROC) and subsurface team.

Onshore drilling contractor and service providers.
-
Logistics team.

bp productions and project organizations as needed.
These relationships are essential for effective communication and aligned execution, ensuring safe and efficient well operations across all phases of delivery.
