Join our Settlements Team and advance your career as a

Trading Settlements Subject Matter Expert- fixed term

As a Trading Settlements SME at BP, you will be a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant settlement of trading transactions. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing processes and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance our operational effectiveness and customer experience.

Please note that this role is offered on a fixed term basis, approximately until 2029 end of March!In this role You will:

  • Provide expert guidance and support for complex trading settlement queries and issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for business process improvement within trading settlements, demonstrating creativity and innovation.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., front office, middle office, finance, IT) and external partners to ensure seamless settlement operations.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of trading knowledge, market practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to settlements.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and implement internal controls and compliance measures to mitigate them.
  • Analyze settlement data and trends to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as an inspiring leader within the trading settlements domain, sharing insights and standard processes.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the overall customer experience through efficient and accurate settlement processes.
  • Demonstrate resilience in navigating complex and fast-paced trading environments.

**What You will need to be successful:

  • Proven experience as a Subject Matter Expert in trading settlements, with a strong understanding of various commodities and financial instruments.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to dissect complex issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in business process improvement methodologies and their application.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong curiosity and a proactive approach to continuous learning and knowledge acquisition within the trading landscape.
  • A customer-centric mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient services.
  • Solid understanding of internal control frameworks and compliance requirements within a trading environment.
  • Proven decision-making abilities, even under pressure, with a focus on mitigating risks and optimizing outcomes.
  • Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in a dynamic and demanding operational setting.
  • A track record of thought leadership, contributing to discussions and shaping best practices in previous roles.
