- Skills Performance Senior Advisor
- Operations is responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering global competency and development strategies to bp Operations in alignment with OMS and regulatory requirements. They ensure that the audience and business have the capabilities needed to meet current and future objectives and achieve bp’s strategic goals.
The role focuses on understanding the business context, converting goals into relevant people impacts, analyzing skills gaps, optimizing development interventions and programmes, and integrating skills insights into workforce planning, development, and performance. This role is global, supporting complex entity stakeholders within Operations who have a high degree of influence.
Role Purpose:
- The Skills Performance Senior Advisor
- Operations is responsible for operationalizing bp’s Learning & Skills strategy by embedding digital enablement, high‑quality design, and analytics into day‑to‑day learning delivery. They ensure that the audience and business have the capabilities needed to meet current and future objectives and achieve bp’s strategic goals.
Accountabilities:
Works with Business Partner, Talent, PC&C and business leaders, engaging in execution of near-term business strategy and skill needs and operationalize prioritized skills.
Understands the strategic workforce and skill development context for their area of responsibility and how this connects to common priorities across bp to ensure solutions deliver maximum value.
Translates key performance shifts into prioritized skills to be 'built' and understands the relationship with skills to be 'bought' through workforce planning.
Creates and delivers the prioritized skills to be ‘built’ plan for their area of responsibility, including detailed needs analysis and impact evaluation strategy.
Proposes solutions for the design team and completes the business value and skills performance briefing documents to demonstrate solution value and impact and enable robust prioritization of conversations.
Maintains strong working relationships to ensure solutions developed and driven meet needs by creating an effective atmosphere for collaboration between subject matter authorities, customers, and the learning design excellence team. Solves sophisticated problems and supports the team to remove blockers.
Leads the catalogue, ensures solutions are refined to increase impact and efficiency and retired when they no longer bring value.
Collaborates with squads of supporting analysts within the learning organizations; ensuring they understand and focus on key performance shifts in the performance of their role.
Leverage sophisticated expertise in PowerPoint to design and develop high‑quality learning materials that are fit‑for‑purpose, visually compelling, and aligned to the needs of diverse learning audiences.
Own the design, build, and ongoing enablement of Learning Management System (LMS) solutions, partnering with multiple teams to ensure effective adoption and consistent utilization.
Act as a subject-matter guide in Excel, delivering accurate, business‑ready data, sophisticated analysis, and capability uplift across the wider team through coaching and knowledge sharing.
Learning Analytics: Serve as a reporting and analytics specialist, using Power BI and Excel to develop, maintain, and deliver insightful dashboards and reports that support business decision‑making.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, OD, Business, Education OR Engineering, Operations, HSE&C
Skills:

Experience:
5+ years of experience in complex organizations, specifically HR, skills management, performance management or workforce planning.
Technical-
Deep technical skills required in learning analytics
Proven track record to deliver balanced solutions, combining business-specific expertise and technical/functional knowledge with a strong understanding of people development.
Technical: Has conducted skills gap analyses and develops tailored capability-building roadmaps
Defined key performance indicators (KPIs) for learning initiatives and tracks impact, demonstrating improvement in application of skills on the job
Experience in generating learning content that aligns with external industry standards and regulations,
Supervising progression and reporting on completion to external bodies
Proven continual use of people, HR and learning analytics tools to track supervise force capability trends, providing insights that influence L&D decisions
Has applied structured problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve sophisticated L&D challenges that have financial impact
Behavioural-
Experience in complex matrix organization and global organizations.
Behavioral: Develops business cases for L&D investments, demonstrating a minimum ROI on learning initiatives within global organizations
Implement practices that enhance team psychological safety in global teams within L&D context
Demonstrated resilience in high-pressure environments, efficiently delivering projects alongside demonstrated values and behaviors.
Key Relationships:
Internal (i.e. within bp) key relationships:
Support the Skills Performance Manager to represent the Talent organization on workforce and skill development solutions within the Operations skills learning team
Partner with leadership team to drive enterprise value into decisions.
Key relationships – internal, external:
Support the Skills Performance Manager with effective integration across the learning organization, wider talent teams, partnering, PC&C Operations & Advisory and Solutions, leaders with vision and external organizations.
Seek and use external insights, standard methodology and emerging trends in skills and learning solutions.
