About the role
Your tasks
Be part of a team specializing in the analysis and mechanical design of gearbox components. Our work spans from the initial transmission concept and layout development through to manufacturing support, ensuring high-quality and efficient engineering solutions.
- Definition of the planetary gear architecture (e.g. Ravigneaux, Lepelletier, Simpson, etc.) based on the gearbox requirements (gear ratios, torque capacity, installation space)
- Performing detailed analytical calculations for tooth stresses (bending, surface pressure), bearing loads and component deformations
- Optimization of the tooth geometry (profile shift, helix angle, pressure angle) with regard to NVH (noise, vibration, roughness), efficiency and durability
- Selection of suitable materials and heat treatments for gears and planet carriers
- Leading the 3D CAD modeling and creation of drawings for all planetary gear components
- Ensuring the consideration of manufacturing and assembly aspects in the design
- Collaboration with other subsystem managers (actuators, bearings, housing, system) to ensure seamless integration
- Review and approval of designs
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis for problems related to the planetary gearbox
- Continuous market observation of planetary gear technologies and manufacturing processes
- Consideration of NVH aspects in the design
Your profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Long-term (5+ years) relevant experience in the field of gearbox / planetary gear development is essential
- Experience and profound expertise in industrialization of gears, running, spline connections, shafts, rolling, plain bearings, freewheels, shaft-hub connections
- In-depth knowledge of related manufacturing technologies such as machining, turning, milling, heat and surface treatment, hard machining
- Extensive knowledge of gear theory
- In-depth knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, material sciences and CAD software.
- Motivating communication (technical leadership)
- Clear, structured, and systematic way of working
