
Platform Development Intern
About the role
As a member of our platform team, you will participate in the development and operation of an open source platform service, gaining practical experience across the full software delivery lifecycle.
About the team/project
You will join our 4-person team responsible for an open source project delivered as a Platform Service within Bosch and to external customers. We operate with a strong "you build it, you run it, you own it" DevOps mindset - you'll take full ownership of the platform from development through production, managing both internal enterprise requirements and external user needs. This role offers hands-on experience across all aspects of open source development, operations, and end-to-end platform ownership.
Your contribution to something big:
- Be an active part of the internship where you will gain knowledge of software engineering practices in a production environment.
- Interact closely with your mentor on learning opportunities and career development.
- Gradually take on assignments within our open source project and platform services after completing relevant trainings.
- Participate in team and project discussions to develop both technical and soft skills through real-world collaboration.
- Contribute to our DevOps culture and learn operational excellence practices.
What distinguishes you:
- Understanding of Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Familiarity with SOLID design principles
- Basic knowledge of RESTful API development and client-server communication
- Experience with Git / Version Control
- Basic knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases
- Problem-solving and debugging skills
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- BS/MS Computer Science student or equivalent (or recent graduate)
What will be considered as an advantage:
- Exposure to containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes concepts
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
- Interest in learning CI/CD pipelines and automation
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or Pulumi)
- Experience with testing strategies and patterns
- Basic understanding of DevOps practices
