Power supply Design Engineer – Magnetics & Maxwell Simulation
About the role
We are seeking a proficient switch mode power supply design Engineer with strong expertise in power electronics, magnetic component design, and ANSYS Maxwell–based electromagnetic simulations. The domain will be development of onboard charger and DCDC for electric vehicles. The role involves full-cycle development of power converters, including modeling, simulation, prototyping, and validation.Design AC–DC (11kW) and DC–DC SMPS (5kW) topologies such as Flyback, LLC, Buck/Boost, and PFC.Perform power-stage calculations, device selection, control-loop design, and thermal/derating analysis.Ensure efficient, reliable, and robust converter operation.Proficiency in working with high Voltage (400V/800V) and high current(200A) applications.Design transformers, inductors, chokes, and custom magnetic components.Conduct ANSYS Maxwell or CST or COMSOL 2D/3D simulations, for magnetic fields, core & copper losses, parasitic extraction.Perform skin effect and proximity effect loss analysis in windings.Optimize magnetic components for performance, thermal behavior, and size.Perform circuit simulations using LTspice, PSIM, PSpice, or MATLAB/Simulink.Build and evaluate hardware prototypes for efficiency, transient response, switching behavior, and thermal characteristics.Hands-on lab experience including oscilloscope measurements, power analyzers, LCR meters, and thermal imaging.Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, and iterative design refinement.Ensure compliance with IEC/UL/CISPR/automotive standards as applicable.Prepare schematics, BOMs, design reports, test plans, and validation documentation.
