About the role

The Hardware Technician will conduct variety of electrical and environmental tests on the ECU and Power Pack, build and manage the required material for the tests and for the department to connect the ECU such as harnesses, test boxes, splices, etc., and manage the local test lab Equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembly and disassembly of prototype ECUs and Power Pack into steering gears.
  • Modification of prototype ECUs.
  • Performing functional testing on prototypes.
  • Analysis of defective units and test results to determine cause of failure.
  • Assembly of Wire harness and test boxes required to connect the ECU with the testing equipment as well as for development.
  • Reads test schedule, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
  • Coordinate Test/Validation tasks.
  • Testing of functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions.
  • Execute E/E test such as but not limited to ESD, ISO Impulses, Cranking, Voltage drop.
  • Compares results with specifications, and records test data, or plots test results on graph.
  • Writing test Reports.
  • Ordering of required parts and components.
  • Setting up test lab equipment and commissioning of new test equipment.
  • Develop Measurements for Commissioning of Power Pack.
  • Confers with engineers, technicians, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree in related field and/or 3+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with design and technical features of electronic and/or electromechanical products
  • Proven knowledge in product design, testing, and prototype construction
  • Aptitude to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management
  • Good knowledge of engineering applications.
  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Pro activeness and sense of urgency
  • Solid interpersonal, communications and listening skills
