Cybersecurity Systems Engineer:

The Opportunity:

Everyone knows security needs to be “baked in” to a system architecture—you know how to bake it in. You can identify and implement ways to harden systems and reduce their attack surface. What if you could use your cyber engineering skills to design and develop secure systems for defense? We’re looking for an engineer who can create solutions that will withstand even the most advanced cyber threats.

As a cyber solutions engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll execute cybersecurity engineering of a network program backlog of cyber and zero trust features to design, test, verify and deploy an enterprise network at multiple classification levels. You’ll identify the right mix of tools and techniques to translate your client’s IT needs and future goals into a plan that will enable secure and effective solutions. We need to come up with the best solutions, so you’ll investigate new techniques, break free from the legacy model, and go where the industry is going. You’ll lead the team through a critical approach to network design, providing alternatives and customizing solutions to maintain a balance of security and mission needs.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

  • Implement infrastructure and cyber security controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas; leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience as a cyber engineer delivering Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts per DoDI 5000.01, DoDI 8570.1 and NIST SP 800-53, including Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities across all stages

  • 5+ years of experience with ACAS, SCAP, STIG, and hardening implementation, applying compensating controls through vulnerability analysis of networks, systems, and communications protocols

  • Experience with the system engineering lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and deployment for military systems, such as C4I or unmanned system architectures

  • Experience with the development of technical specifications, interface control documents, and system architecture, including using digital engineering tools

  • Experience with assisting in the development and maintenance of security policies, evaluating assessment documentation, and developing written security risks, mitigations, and recommendations

  • Experience with operating systems, platforms, and technologies, including Windows, Linux, MacOS, Ubuntu, cloud, and virtualization

  • Ability to design, document, and implement secure network architectures, including VPN technologies, firewalls, IDS, IPS, and secure communications protocols

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field

  • DoD 8570 or 8140 IAM level II or higher certification such as SecurityX, CISM, or CISSP

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with installation, programming, testing, and configuration management of operating systems and embedded systems, including automation technologies such as PowerShell, Evaluate-STIG, eMASSter, Python, Ansible, or scripting

  • Experience with Navy-specific platforms, systems engineering for C2 systems, defense communications systems, autonomous technologies, multi-domain unmanned systems, or the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN)

  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions and related RTB requirements, including software-based, hardware-based, or tactical/enterprise

  • Ability to devise and execute client deliverables, work independently, identify problems and devise analysis and solutions, communicate results, and lead the accomplishments of client tasks from inception to completion

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Master's degree in a Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or technical field preferred; Doctorate degree a plus

  • DoD 8570 or 8140 for IASAE Level III Certification, such as CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, or CCSP Certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
