Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to lead communications efforts in support of growth and market positioning priorities for the BDS Vertical Lift (VL) and Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) divisions. The role may be based in Arlington, VA; Mesa, AZ;Huntsville, AL; El Segundo, CA; Titusville, FL or Ridley Park, PA.
Reporting to the BDS Director of Communications for Business Development and Strategy (BD&S), this role will partner closely with the Vice Presidents of VL BD&S and SI&WS BD&S and work with the VL and SI&WS communications senior managers and specialists as an embedded member of both teams.
Major responsibilities include developing, executing, and measuring strategic integrated marketing communications plans in support of priority global (U.S. and international) sales campaigns for the Apache, Chinook and space and weapons programs. This role will additionally play a central role in domestic advocacy efforts, as well as partnering to develop strategic messaging, market positioning and communications and brand strategies to help capture next-generation opportunities in both divisions.
Day-to-day, close collaboration with domestic and international business development and communications teammates is crucial to success in the position. Senior BD&S communications specialists are expected to partner collaboratively with divisional, functional and global teammates on development and execution of strategic communications plans, with the senior BD&S communications specialist ultimately accountable for demonstrating planning effectiveness and measurable results.
The successful candidate will have:

Experience building and executing communications plans, including working on and off-the-record with media

Excellent writing skills, including the capability to produce top quality deliverables at pace with minimal rework or editing

A content creator mindset with a passion for innovation, aviation and storytelling and the ability to identify, shape and execute compelling stories in a timely manner

A talent for navigating complex global political dynamics strategically, and with a desire to work on high-impact, high-visibility projects

The capability to build strong relationships with business partners and teammates, a track record of working as a collaborative teammate and an understanding of how to partner effectively across global markets
Position Responsibilities:
-
Leads or directs the design, development and deployment of communication plans and branding strategies that support enterprise and/or business unit goals and objectives
-
Partners closely with VL and SI&WS communicators to identify objectives for trade/air shows
-
Oversees development of strategies and tactics that connect target audiences to those objectives and goals with significant impact on Boeing business results, policies, or employee and/or leadership initiatives

Provides advanced expertise in identifying content and appropriate production resources and techniques for Boeing internal/external communications including co-marketing activities and determines channel strategies

Manages and plans the promotion of stories to key media and evaluates the merit of media inquiries about business unit activities, working in partnership with External Communications team

Cultivates and maintains strategic relationships with influential contacts

Anticipates, plans and manages communications and branding around issues facing the enterprise and/or business unit
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher
-
5 years of experience influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and partners across teams
-
5 years of experience applying verbal and written communication skills including spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style, proof reading and editing skills
-
5 years of experience working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
-
5 years of experience with Microsoft office suite
-
Experience with producing, writing and editing multiple communications deliverables such as news releases, statements, RTQs, feature stories, speeches, videos, social media, etc.
-
Capability to work independently and with a cross-functional team
-
Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Master’s degree or higher
-
5 years of experience creating or managing digital and social media content/channels
-
Professional level experience with video production and editing
-
Working knowledge and experience with global defense procurement processes

Summary pay range: $143,650 - $208,150
