Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking to provide students of Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) certified courses with the opportunity to join our 787 production teams working as an Assembly Structures Mechanic in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift!
Your BPET Instructor Endorsement Form will outline the specific roles for which your course qualifies you for a direct offer of employment. Following your application, a Boeing recruiter will reach out to discuss these roles and ensure a smooth transition into your new role.
This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively.
Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. This position is exclusively open to students who have completed Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) certified courses.

BPET Instructor Endorsement Form: This form must be issued by your instructor.
Updated Resume: Your resume should provide a comprehensive overview of your hands-on tool experience and/or manufacturing skill sets.
Primary Responsibilities:
Safety: Adhering strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect ourselves, our colleagues, and our workplace. Safety is non-negotiable and must be integrated into every task we perform.
Quality: Maintaining rigorous quality standards in all deliverables, ensuring that our work meets or exceeds expectations and complies with all regulatory and company requirements.
Must successfully complete the new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
Proficient use of a computer in a dynamic production environment.
Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task performed.
Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts).
Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver multi meters, continuity testers.
Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes.
Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris.
Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.
Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).
Lifting and carrying up to 10-35 pounds.
Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching (overhead), rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Be a student or recent graduate of a Boeing Pre-Employment Training course that is certified for the BPET Assembly Structures Mechanic role.
Physical demands and requirements:
Ability to work a variable shift as noted further below.
Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as flexion and extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
Ability to lift/carry up to 10-35 pounds.
Ability to work with high-hazard chemicals.
Ability to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, as required.
Experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications.
Experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.
Experience applying mathematical calculations.
Experience in a technical, or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools.
Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly processes and procedures.

Shift:
This position is for a variable shift (shift 4). Variable shift means you will be placed on a shift at the time of hire based on business needs at that time. You will remain on that shift until re-evaluation is needed.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $54,000 - $64,000
