Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for a Structures Load Control (Instrumentation) Engineer with significant experience in Load Control and Data Acquisition Systems to join our team in Mesa, AZ.
The STR capability supports structural, mechanical and material properties test programs for all Boeing Divisions, including Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA), Boeing Defense Systems (BDS), and Boeing Space Programs. This position requires a medium to advanced knowledge of control systems and the instrumentation directly associated with these systems.
As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on the latest military aircraft and weapons programs, such as MQ-25A, and support our legacy programs like AH-64 and CH-47 into the future. The Mesa STR team supports a variety of testing including material, component, High Load Center, and Gearbox testing.
The selected candidate should be able to work to and maintain a schedule as well as be a problem solver. The candidate should also have intrinsic qualities such as leadership, communication, interpersonal interaction and organization. Attention to details and pursuit of quality are highly sought. There are additional opportunities to work and interact with other test laboratories in the company and develop unique solutions for data acquisition and instrumentation systems to solve challenging engineering problems.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Experienced, and Lead Level Structures Load Control Engineer.
Position Responsibilities:

Designs test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements. Identifies required products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes / technologies

Leads the design, development, and documentation of instrumentation and test control systems

Generates electrical schematics using Microsoft Visio and other common design software

Leads system design, fabrication, integration, modification, setup, checkout and teardown of test control systems

Identifies test requirements and determines test methods

Integrates test hardware, software and systems to fulfill all test requirements

Troubleshoots and resolves instrumentation system, transducer, and test-related problems

Analyzes, reviews and validates test data to ensure test instrumentation hardware and software readiness

Formulates expectations for test data based on historical data

Conducts research in test technologies to improve efficiency and capability

Works with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement test engineering solutions

Performs functions as required to ensure instrumentation system readiness and data validity

Self-starter that works under minimal supervision
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
-
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

1+ years of experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems for military and/or commercial aircraft programs
-
1+ years of experience with open and closed loop feedback control systems
-
1+ years of experience with instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
-
Level3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
-
An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Experience with data acquisition system attributes (e.g. range, accuracy, frequency responses, bandwidth) to define characteristics of measurements to be recorded
-
Experience with precision test, measurement devices, and sensor selection
-
Experience planning and implementing instrumentation activities for test programs
-
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Aerospace Engineering
-
Experience with hydraulic control systems for static and fatigue testing in a lab environment
-
Experience directly supporting flight/lab test operations
-
Experience with transducer and sensor physics with the ability to make hardware selections appropriate to measure physical phenomena

3+ years of experience with MTS Flex Test controllers and/or MTS Aero Pro Test Control Software

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for Associate level (Level 2): $85,000 – $115,000
Summary Pay Range for Mid-level (Level 3): $103,700 – $140,300
Summary Pay Range for Senior level (Level 4): $126,650 – $171,350
