We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Specialist, Client Coverage to join our Payments Operations team in Tokyo.

This role is responsible for supporting transaction banking operations with a focus on domestic and global payment processing, operational excellence, and effective collaboration across local and offshore teams.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in transaction banking operations, sound knowledge of Japanese and global clearing systems, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. This role requires five days a week’s attendance in the office owing to processing with a standalone terminal located in the office.

The responsibilities include-

• Perform day-to-day payments operations activities in support of transaction banking services in the office.
• Support processing and operational control activities across local and cross-border payment flows.
• Apply knowledge of local and global clearing systems to ensure accurate and timely operations.
• Coordinate closely with local Tokyo team members and offshore partners to maintain smooth operational delivery.
• Assist in issue identification, escalation, and resolution related to payment operations.
• Contribute to process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Support ongoing changes related to market infrastructure, messaging standards, and operational processes.
• Demonstrate openness to leveraging AI-enabled tools and new technologies to improve productivity and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure high standards of risk awareness, control, and compliance in all operational activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders in both Japanese and English.
• Attend the office five days a week due to operational processing requirements involving a standalone terminal located on-site.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

• More than 3 years of working experience in Transaction Banking Operations.

• Basic knowledge of local and global clearing systems, including:

• FXYCS

• Zengin-NET

• BOJ-NET

• SWIFT

• ISO 20022

• Strong team player with an open-minded approach to working in a small local team and with offshore teams.

• Positive attitude toward the use of AI and digital tools in the workplace.

• Fluent Japanese and English communication skills for business situations.
