
Senior Vice President, International Compliance Governance & Strategy (Ireland) at BNY Mellon
About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced Compliance leader to act as SVP, International Compliance Governance & Strategy (Ireland). This position is responsible for defining and overseeing the Ireland compliance governance architecture, within International Compliance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving execution, and ensuring the effectiveness and consistency of compliance frameworks across our Irish entities, while maintaining appropriate local regulatory specificity.
The role will also act as a senior coordination and alignment point across Irish entity CCOs, providing strategic direction, prioritisation and consistency of approach. In addition, the role will provide flexible, generalist compliance support across Ireland on key initiatives, including new products, regulatory change, and strategic business developments.
Key Responsibilities

Define and enforce governance standards across our Irish entities, including compliance governance submissions and escalation protocols.

Provide independent oversight and challenge to Irish compliance teams related to governance and International Compliance Frameworks to ensure consistency and effectiveness.

Act as a senior advisor to Irish leadership on governance-related matters.

Enhance existing compliance frameworks with a focus on driving consistency and standardisation while ensuring alignment with local regulatory requirements.

Support and lead regulatory matters across our Irish entities, ensuring adequate involvement of business and country-compliance and clear upward reporting.

Support engagement with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on governance and framework-related matters.

Provide hands-on compliance support for Irish initiatives, including new product development, regulatory change implementation, and strategic projects, working closely with local compliance and business teams.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across international compliance, including remediation and transformation programmes.

Collaborate closely with global compliance, legal, risk, and business leaders.

Influence and engage senior stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions and cultures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as a delegate of the Head of Governance & Strategy, representing the function in senior forums and decision-making bodies as required.
Support cross-entity prioritisation and execution of key compliance deliverables in Ireland, ensuring consistency of approach and timely delivery across entities.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of international regulatory environments and expectations.
- Proven leadership experience managing senior teams and complex stakeholder environments.
Experience working closely with or supporting senior compliance leaders (e.g. CCOs), with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Experience engaging with regulators and managing regulatory interactions.
