Bloomberg Economics is seeking a Senior US Economist to join the Washington, D.C. office on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is part of a global network of more than 70 economists and analysts, and 200 economics and government reporters - a team uniquely positioned to explain where the world economy stands, where it’s heading, and how policy and geopolitics shape its course.

This position offers the chance to apply cutting-edge economic analysis to some of the most critical questions in US economy and policy. Working closely with the US team and economists across other country and functional teams, the senior US economist will help strengthen the forecasting framework and analytical tools of the US team, while contributing to Bloomberg’s economic insights and storytelling to innovation that reaches audiences worldwide.

We will trust you to:

  • Play a critical role in shaping forecasts for the US economy
  • Develop rigorous and frontier analytical methods to answer economic questions of our times
  • Mentor other economists in the US team
  • Produce insightful, timely, and authoritative thematic research
  • Collaborate on projects with the broader Bloomberg Economics group -- contributing to cross-country research, providing quotes to news stories.

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in forecasting the US economy, either in financial markets, or at a central bank or IMF.
  • Managerial experience, preferably having demonstrated experience in managing a team of economists
  • A Ph

D in Economics:

  • Strong econometrics, writing, teamwork, and communication skills
  • A self-starter with proven ability to have independent problem solving skills, can thrive in a fast-paced, and ambiguous environment.
  • A mindset that blends technical rigor with curiosity, creativity, and a passion for understanding US economic dynamics.
  • We’d love to see
  • Relevant publications on US macroeconomic issues
  • Experience generating content across a variety of formats, ranging from rapid turnaround responses to events to longer-term collaborative research
