Bloomberg is the global leader in business and financial data, news, and insight. We connect the world’s decision-makers to accurate information on the financial markets, helping them make faster, smarter decisions. At the heart of this mission is BQuant, our cloud-based platform that enables quantitative analysts and data scientists to build, test, and share research using open-source tools like Python and Jupyter notebooks, fully integrated with the Bloomberg Terminal.

Our Team:

The Content Services team builds the mission-critical systems that power how users create, manage, and share content across the BQuant ecosystem. We sit at the intersection of backend engineering and user experience, designing services that make collaboration and real-time data publishing seamless.

As we expand our footprint in 2026, we are looking for engineers to help us scale our core infrastructure and launch new external-facing products.

Upcoming Projects:

  • The Snapshot Manager: Our core component for state management. You’ll work on a full-stack suite (Golang, Python, React/TS) that manages snapshots stored in our internal S3, currently scaling to support schedulers and workload APIs.

  • Public Notebook Sharing: We are building the infrastructure to allow product creators to build and share Jupyter projects globally. This involves deploying Golang services and AWS Postgres to facilitate seamless interfirm sharing.

  • Real-Time Engagement: Integrating AWS WebSocket gateways to provide live updates to our Snapshot Manager UI, ensuring users have a pulse on their data as it changes.

  • Compliance & Governance: Collaborating on early-stage research to leverage Bloomberg’s Vault service, ensuring all shared content meets strict information boundaries and content safety checks.

What’s in it for you:

  • Impactful Backend Work: You can expect to spend approximately 50% of your time on Golang services, with the remainder distributed across design, data modeling, and full-stack integration.

  • Greenfield Development: We are moving from internal-only tools to external-facing products. You will have the opportunity to build applications and deployment management systems from scratch.

  • High Visibility: Our team regularly presents to senior stakeholders, including the CTO office, shaping the future of Bloomberg’s quantitative offerings.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Design and implement robust, scalable backend services in Golang.

  • Collaborate with Product and UX teams to translate complex financial workflows into elegant technical solutions.

  • Contribute to the architectural vision of our data modeling and storage strategies.

  • Regularly present and explain your work to peers and senior stakeholders.

  • Mentor and guide junior members of the team.

You’ll need to have:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in software development.

  • Strong proficiency in Golang (our primary backend language).

  • Solid understanding of web service fundamentals (REST, authentication, caching, and API design).

  • A collaborative mindset and the eagerness to work across a full-stack environment.

  • A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience

We’d love to see:

  • Experience with React and TypeScript (or a strong desire to learn the frontend).

  • Experience with Data Modeling and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).

  • Proficiency with Python (used for our helper services and internal tooling).

  • Knowledge of Real-time systems (WebSockets, AWS Gateway, or pub/sub).

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and distributed storage.
