About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Associate Director CSR Reporting (m/w/d) to join our CSR Performance and Reporting Team and lead BioNTech's sustainability reporting ecosystem.

This pivotal role focuses on ensuring CSRD/ESRS compliance, optimizing ESG ratings and stakeholder engagements, supporting independent carbon governance and accounting, and delivering audit-ready disclosures. You will play a key role in shaping our future sustainability reporting architecture under wave two conditions while driving excellence in regulatory compliance and respectful internal stakeholder alignments. This role reports to the Team Lead CSR Performance and Reporting.

Your contribution:

• Lead and support BioNTech's mandatory CSRD/ESRS and EU Taxonomy implementation, including the preparation of integrated management reports and audit-ready sustainability disclosures
  Develop sustainability reporting architecture serving mandatory compliance and ESG rating performance
• Lead operational execution of ESG rating processes (e.g. ISS ESG, S&P CSA) and coordinate capital market sustainability engagements in collaboration with Investor Relations and CSR Lead
• Respond to governmental and regulatory inquiries while optimizing stakeholder engagement strategies
• Support the establishment and maintenance of BioNTech's global carbon accounting framework, deliver internal reports for decarbonization analysis and strategic business planning, and implement financial allocation processes to ensure compliant external carbon reporting
• Oversee external sustainability assurance processes and manage relationships with Auditors
• Continuously align and improve internal reporting controls in collaboration with the SOX 404/Internal Controls Team

A good match:

• Master's degree in Sustainability, Finance, Business Administration or Economics, Environmental or Social Science or related field with 5+ years of cross-functional leadership experience in sustainability reporting
• In-depth understanding of sustainability standards (GRI, ESRS, SASB, IFRS, IFRS Sustainability Standards), climate reporting frameworks (IFRS/TCFD), and international frameworks, especially UN Global Compact, SDGs
• Proven experience in sustainability reporting within publicly traded companies, with strong interface understanding between financial and sustainability reporting. Pharma- and/or Biotech-Background would be an asset
• Demonstrated ability in project management, stakeholder alignment, and effective collaboration with auditors and interface departments
• Executive-level communication abilities with strong content writing capabilities
• Experience with SAP Sustainability Control Tower, SAP Green Ledger, SAP Analytics Cloud, and Workiva reporting platform would be an asset
• Experience managing ESG ratings, specifically ISS ESG and S&P CSA, is highly desirable
• Strong hands-on mentality with high personal accountability, consistently delivering quality-oriented work under tight deadlines
• Business fluent English and German required
