About the role

As a Product Development Analyst, you’ll support our exclusive brands category development team to build sales and enhance profitability through the entire product life cycle. You’ll work with global teams located throughout North America and Asia to execute on the category strategy. You’ll analyze brand performance and identify opportunities to optimize the online and in-store experience. You’ll support the development and validation of product specifications by collaborating with internal and external partners. You may also support with promotion planning and execution, as we explore new ways of working, to support the category teams.

This role assists with the end‑to‑end development of physical products across Best Buy’s private‑label brands—including Insignia, Rocketfish, and Best Buy Essentials—from concept through manufacturing and retail launch. It does not involve software or digital product development.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you’ll do

  • Manage all necessary documents required to fully complete product commercialization
  • Provide updates and reports through the development, approval and production processes
  • Collaborate with associated category management teams to develop strategies that leverage exclusive brands products
  • Conduct online and in-store competitive analysis for assigned categories
  • Ensure product display pages are accurate, complete and representative of content expectations
  • Maintain project schedules for all assigned products and categories
  • Assist in planning and entering promotional plans

Basic qualifications

  • 1 year of direct sourcing, merchandising or vendor management experience
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to draw accurate conclusions from financial documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications

  • 2 years of retail operations including demand planning or forecasting
  • 2 years of merchandising or product marketing experience
