You will oversee the centralized planning team responsible for daily transportation planning while leading strategic modeling work that shapes the future of our network. The role requires a balance of day-to-day operational leadership, analytical problem solving, and long-term strategic thinking.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and develop Centralized Planning team responsible for releasing daily routes in the Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Set goals for others, provide meaningful and timely performance feedback and coaching, document issues and provide timely, appropriate corrective action.
  • Monitor daily performance, proactively identifying issues and resolving routing exceptions or system challenges.
  • Oversee and participate in the design and development of processes to refine operations, evaluation, testing and financial reporting.
  • Oversee proper documentation and implementation of changes to processes and procedures.
  • Lead and execute scenario modeling efforts using transportation optimization tools to assess routing strategies, network changes, volume shifts, fleet design, and delivery frequencies.
  • Identify potential future impacts for other operational and functional areas based on current trends and make recommendations to business leaders to influence change.
  • Support enterprise initiatives such as long-range planning, budgeting, and network optimization projects.

Basic qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in transportation planning, logistics optimization, or supply chain operations
  • 5 years of experience in modeling transportation scenarios
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation)
  • Proficient in analytical / data extraction tools (Microsoft Access, SQL, Microsoft Excel)

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations, logistics, or related field is preferred
  • 6 years of experience with Blue Yonder Transportation Management and Modeling, including network design, strategy file improvement, and importing/exporting data, and tariff maintenance
  • 6 years of experience analyzing data to generate actionable insights using statistical methods, leveraging tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL Developer, PowerBI, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Cognos Reporting Suite
  • 2 years of direct people leadership experience
