Job Description

The Manager, Warehouse Operations at BD is responsible for leading and optimizing all warehouse and distribution activities within a highly regulated environment. This role oversees both manual and automated processes required for the receiving, storage, handling, and distribution of products. Responsibilities span inbound and outbound logistics, inventory control, material flow, and compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards.

The Manager, Warehouse Operations ensures the efficient flow of materials from vendor receipt through customer shipment, while driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture to meet or exceed service, cost, and compliance objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and sustain warehouse policies, procedures, and work instructions in compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, staging, storage, transportation, and inventory control.

  • Optimize warehouse layout, material flow, and space utilization to improve productivity, capacity, and throughput.

  • Implement and maintain effective inventory management practices, including cycle counting and physical inventories, to ensure high inventory accuracy.

  • Leverage operational data, KPIs, and root cause analysis to identify gaps, drive corrective actions, and improve performance.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Production, Planning, Quality, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless material flow and alignment with customer demand.

  • Manage warehouse equipment and infrastructure (e.g., forklifts, racking systems, material handling equipment), ensuring compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Promote a safe and compliant work environment by enforcing safety standards, conducting audits, and providing regular safety training.

  • Prepare, manage, and control the warehouse operating budget, optimizing labor and resource utilization.

  • Lead and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Kaizen, and Shingijutsu methodologies.

  • Investigate and resolve operational issues, inventory discrepancies, and customer or internal complaints related to warehouse activities.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with internal policies, GMP, and regulatory requirements.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in warehouse or distribution operations management, preferably within a regulated industry (e.g., medical device or pharmaceutical).

  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).

  • Min 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate, engage, and develop diverse teams.

  • Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms; SAP experience strongly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of inventory control principles, best practices, and cycle count methodologies.

  • Proven experience implementing and sustaining continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).

  • Working knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements applicable to warehouse operations.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across functions.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
