Project Overview

Bechtel has been engaged to provide EPCM services to replace existing Balanced Machines at facilities in the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the new balanced machines as well as design and construction of associated off-board scope, including earthworks, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the installation and operation.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements.

This position will move to a 2 & 1 rotation upon site execution scopes.

Major Responsibilities:

Project

• Provides guidance on executing approved Constructability ideas and plans.
• Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.
• Participates and may lead construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.
• Maintains effective interface with Home office construction team, jobsite team ensuring construction’s requirements are communicated to Engineering team
• Leads and participates in 3D Model reviews, interdisciplinary coordination reviews of design drawings and ensures design is safe, constructible, and cost effective.

Non-Project

• Assists with the development and delivery of Constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training.
• Maintains and develops enterprise-wide processes and procedures
• Coordinates with projects to implement Quality Management System
• Sponsors and develops enterprise applications
• Assists in and may lead proposal efforts

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• A recognised degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Progressive work experience, including engineering, assembly commissioning and inspection of balanced machines, preferably Reclaimers and Stackers.
• Technical knowledge of bulk materials handling balanced machines engineering design to relevant Australian Standards (including AS4324.1), 3D models, Inventor and Navisworks, as well as DEM and conveyor design software is advantageous.
• Experience with hydraulic drive systems is advantageous.
• Proven experience in similar role(s) with “brownfields” knowledge and successes will be viewed favourably.
• Comfortably able to work as part of integrated engineering team comprising the other engineering disciplines / multi-functional (procurement, construction, start-up) and transglobal teams.
• Remote site/Field experience

• Balanced machines experience
