Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Note: This position may involve other project work, aside from Sentinel project, within the Knoxville Execution Center.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of Control Systems' components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for Control Systems matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard control systems engineering techniques will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team.

Major Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, selects, and applies Control Systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​

• Participates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of Control Systems' components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department procedures, design standards and guides

• Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability​

• Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines, functional project groups, suppliers,​ and the client (as needed)

• Assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals

• Prepares and checks designs for misc. systems, which may include HVAC, lighting, power, and other utilities, gas monitoring, etc.

• Prepares and checks Control Systems' design deliverables such as P&IDs, logic, control philosophy, specifications, data sheets, material requisitions and misc. databases (e.g., Instrument and I/O Lists)

• Supports physical design of Control Systems' components via 3D model review, preparation of Instrument Installation Details and location drawings

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• U.S. citizenship is required

• Experience with design of Department of Defense and/or Department of Energy facilities

• Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 application suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Power BI, etc.)

Preferred:

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate

• Experience working within AS9100D and/or NQA-1 quality programs

• Possess or have ability to obtain security clearance
