Project Overview:

Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence, rail and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Sydney where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.

Job Summary:

As Risk Manager you will be responsible for provision of support and guidance for Project Risk Management (PRM) and relevant internal and external stakeholders in PRM matters across the project. Responsible for providing technical advice and management of the risk management program. The role requires interpersonal skills with ability to drive focus on PRM, lead through influence and tie PRM with key interfaces across the project scope.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the project risk management program across the project.
  • Manage and maintain risk activities to ensure alignment with the risk management plan.
  • Responsible for quantitative risk analysis (schedule and cost) across the project.
  • Training project team in risk management and facilitation of workshops for projects, programs and the portfolio.
  • Advise project leaders in risk awareness.
  • Deliver training in project risk management.
  • Arrange and facilitate workshops to deliver to the Project Execution Plan.
  • Reporting to key stakeholders represent the project risk management program at project leadership meetings.
  • Liaise with CPP and customer leaders in all aspects of the project risk management program.
  • Responsible for collating risk intelligence and associated 'lessons learned' or best practices and ensuring distribution throughout the project.
  • Champions the creation of a work environment, helped by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 14-17 years of relevant experience or 20+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Skill in working and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with other project functional groups. Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers and team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative risk management is necessary.
  • Experience in the infrastructure / rail / heavy civil / aviation / renewables / construction industries advantageous.
