Our Oilfield Services & Equipment (OFSE) business supports customers through integrated solutions that combine technology, execution excellence, and commercial discipline. We are committed to compliance, integrity, and strong partnerships that enable long‑term value creation.

Fueling Your Passion

As Legal Counsel – OFSE, Integration & Solutions (I&S), you will provide strategic and transactional legal support to the I&S business. Reporting to the I&S Segment Counsel, you will advise on complex commercial matters, vendor‑side negotiations, subcontracting structures, and project execution risks. You will partner closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to enable business objectives while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.

As Legal Counsel – I&S (OFSE), you will be responsible for:

  • Serving as a trusted legal advisor to the I&S business, supporting the I&S Segment Counsel in delivering pragmatic, business‑focused legal guidance.
  • Providing legal support related to commercial strategy, risk assessment, and compliance across the I&S portfolio.
  • Supporting subcontracting activities for integrated, multiparty, and technically complex projects with significant vendor involvement.
  • Leading and supporting vendor‑side negotiations to protect Baker Hughes’ commercial position and mitigate contractual risk.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, including subcontracts, service agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, MOUs, and collaboration agreements.
  • Ensuring appropriate flow‑down and back‑to‑back contractual terms with vendors and suppliers.
  • Partnering with Supply Chain, Sourcing, Project Management, Risk, Commercial, and other internal functions to manage contractual and execution risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Delivering practical, solution‑oriented legal advice aligned with operational and commercial realities.
  • Supporting the development and rollout of templates, governance frameworks, processes, and best practices to improve contracting efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Providing additional commercial legal support for the North America region, including drafting and negotiation of customer‑facing commercial agreements.
  • Supporting sourcing‑related legal matters in collaboration with the broader Sourcing Legal team.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree with active membership in at least one recognized bar association.
  • Have a minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience (in‑house and/or law firm) handling a broad range of commercial and transactional legal matters, including complex contract negotiation and deal execution.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to integrity, compliance, and professional ethics.
  • Be self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to take ownership of matters and anticipate business needs.
  • Communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Operate successfully in a fast‑paced, matrixed, multi‑stakeholder environment.
  • Collaborate effectively across functions and regions to deliver aligned outcomes.
  • Apply a pragmatic, solution‑focused mindset to balancing risk management with business enablement.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, resilience, and leadership presence in a dynamic business environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience supporting large‑scale, integrated, or technically complex projects.
  • Familiarity with international contracting and cross‑border project execution.
  • Strong influencing skills with commercial, operational, and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
