Our team is expanding, and we are currently hiring a scientist to join our Technology Development group in Beverly to develop advanced beamline control methods for our leading-edge Purion product line of ion implanter systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on scientist or engineer who understands complex physical systems and can translate that understanding into practical control algorithms, software tools, and experimental methods. The successful candidate will combine physical insight, hands-on experimentation, and modern control methods to develop, test, and validate new beamline control approaches using physics-based modeling, data analysis, and AI/ML-enabled methods where appropriate.

Responsibilities
- Develop analytical and numerical models of beamlines and components
- Apply state-of-the-art principles and stay current with advances in the field
- Contribute to internal technical knowledge and external engagement, including attending scientific conferences
- Generate intellectual property, including invention disclosures and patent contributions
- Collaborate across functions while operating as a strong individual contributor
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in a relevant physical science or engineering discipline required; advanced degree and demonstrated individual contributor experience strongly desired
- Relevant experience in semiconductor equipment or a related high-technology field preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex technical problems
- Travel to customers, suppliers, and conferences may be required (approximately 1-2 times per year)

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE
$121,467.00 - $182,200.50
This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.
Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on
multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work
location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as
you develop within the role.
Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the
Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular
employees working 20+ hours a week).
