Position Overview

We are seeking an attorney experienced in supporting global enterprise technology teams, complex technology transactions, and internal product counseling to provide comprehensive legal support for Autodesk’s Enterprise Systems and Experience (ESE) organization. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with the internal enterprise technology organization that delivers technology, platforms, and infrastructure to Autodesk’s employees worldwide.

You will play a key role in enabling delivery of state-of-the-art technology and data platforms by advising on a range of issues including product counseling, AI/ML, data-related issues, and technology and commercial contracts.

The role is hybrid based out of our Portland, Denver, Toronto, or Vancouver offices. You will report to our Senior Corporate Counsel, GET & ESE.

Responsibilities:

  • Product counseling: Serve as a legal business partner supporting development and delivery of enterprise systems, internal platforms, and employee productivity and collaboration tools worldwide. Work independently to provide practical legal advice that balances risk and enables achievement of business objectives in alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices

  • Contract review, negotiation, and implementation: Independently draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts with technology vendors, consultants, service providers, and other third parties including in-bound technology and SaaS contracts, AI technology and services, and consulting agreements. Manage full life cycle of complex technology contracts and appropriately escalate potential issues and disputes. Partner with business and technical stakeholders to support rollout and implementation of technology services enterprise-wide

  • Collaboration: Proactively engage with technical teams and develop trusted advisor relationships with ESE team members. Collaborate with legal department staff supporting ESE to develop and deliver trainings for technical teams and business counterparts. Partner with other legal department staff in a highly matrixed environment, involving subject matter experts in IP, privacy, trust, compliance, and procurement to promote consistency and best practices

  • Compliance and risk management: Stay updated on company policies and procedures, relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Identify potential legal risks and propose risk mitigation strategies to enable ESE to deliver innovative and state-of-the-art technology, data, and platforms to optimize employee experiences, productivity, and collaboration

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with preference for prior experience in-house in a publicly traded global technology company

  • Law degree from a recognized university, with excellent academic credentials and active Bar membership in good standing

  • Experience supporting technical teams as product counsel, providing practical and creative legal support to enable development and launch of internal tools or enterprise technology

  • Experience advising technical stakeholders on legal issues including AI/ML, IP, data, security, privacy, trust, and regulatory compliance

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and build trusted advisor relationships with stakeholders at all levels, ranging from senior leadership to individual contributors

  • Demonstrated track record of developing strategies to mitigate risk while enabling delivery of innovative technology services and solutions

  • Track record of negotiating and closing complex technology and commercial contracts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to provide clear, concise, and practical legal advice

  • Ability to travel as needed, approximately 2-4 times per year

  • Agility, responsiveness, and adaptability to change
