About the role
Overall Purpose
The Sr Specialist Software Engineering is a member of the BIT Application Development team responsible for developing, enhancing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications including Vector, TREQS, and VALET. This role works with modern web technologies, cloud platforms, and software engineering practices to deliver reliable and secure business solutions. The position collaborates with team members, product owners, and business stakeholders to implement application features, resolve issues, and support ongoing business needs.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, and support application features using Angular, Node.js, SQL, AWS, and related technologies.
- Build and maintain user interface components, APIs, database integrations, and backend services supporting the Vector, TREQS, and VALET platforms.
- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and team members to understand requirements and implement solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and apply established development standards, design patterns, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, database objects, and data integrations.
- Assist in implementing cloud-based solutions and integrations leveraging AWS services.
- Create and execute automated and manual tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Troubleshoot application defects, support production issues, and participate in root cause analysis activities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, testing, and release activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance application functionality, performance, and user experience.
- Document technical solutions, processes, and application changes as required.

Works on software development assignments under general guidance while applying established technical knowledge and development practices. Contributes to the successful delivery of application enhancements, defect resolutions, and support activities. Collaborates effectively with team members and stakeholders to develop reliable solutions that meet business requirements. Continues to expand technical skills and knowledge of enterprise applications, development tools, and cloud technologies while gaining experience in delivering increasingly complex solutions.
What You'll Need (Required Skills)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of software development experience.
- Experience developing web applications using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with Node.js and REST API development.
- Working knowledge of SQL development, data modeling, and relational databases.
- Experience developing or supporting applications in AWS or other cloud environments.
- Familiarity with source control tools such as Git and basic CI/CD concepts.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and Agile practices.
- Knowledge of software design principles, coding standards, and application security fundamentals.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise business applications.
- Familiarity with workforce planning, vendor management, financial management, or resource management solutions.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or similar frameworks.
- Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and data exchange processes.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and automation technologies.
- Familiarity with microservices-based applications and modern web architectures.
- Experience using Jira, ServiceNow, GitHub, or related development tools.
- Interest in learning cloud-native development, DevOps practices, and emerging technologies.
Location: Bratislava, Slovakia
Salary Range: from 3200 - 4900 EUR gross a month. The actual salary is based on your skills, experience and knowledge.
