Job Description:

Inventory Specialist Job Summary:

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy and integrity across operations, supporting the timely and cost‑effective delivery of solar energy solutions. This role oversees high‑volume inventory transactions, resolves discrepancies, and ensures compliance with SOX controls while partnering closely with Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations.

The Inventory Specialist leads daily audits, cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and continuous improvement efforts to reduce risk, improve accuracy, and enhance operational efficiency. Success in this role requires strong ownership, analytical problem‑solving skills, and a proactive approach to issue resolution. Occasional evening or weekend support may be required for physical inventory or critical projects.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead root cause analysis and remediation of inventory discrepancies, including material issuance variances, yield loss, and scrap, ensuring sustainable corrective actions are embedded across operations.

  • Serve as the accountable owner for inventory SOX compliance, overseeing 100% execution and documentation of inventory transaction audits and third‑party logistics (3PL) reconciliations.

  • Establish and maintain enterprise‑wide inventory data integrity across all production and warehouse locations through rigorous governance, reconciliation, and validation processes.

  • Oversee the timely resolution of high‑volume and high‑risk inventory transaction errors to protect financial accuracy, minimize exposure, and ensure proper system postings.

  • Assist in the design and continuous enhancement of inventory control policies, procedures, and systems to improve traceability, reduce defects, and drive operational efficiency.

  • Act as a key cross‑functional partner to Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, and Operations to optimize material flow, strengthen MRP accuracy, and deliver end‑to‑end inventory visibility.

  • Monitor and enforce inventory handling and transaction standards to mitigate risk related to fraud, loss, or misplacement across internal and external storage locations.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, cycle count effectiveness, and physical inventory execution, leveraging data and best practices.

  • Support Finance and Accounting for inventory‑related audits, reconciliations, and complex inquiries, particularly during month‑end and year‑end close cycles.

  • Conduct strategic on‑site reviews of third‑party warehouses to validate inventory balances, system transactions, and material flows, ensuring alignment with corporate controls and expectations.

  • Participate in cross‑functional, enterprise initiatives including inventory conversions, domestic content tracking, and other strategic supply chain programs.

  • Perform additional leadership responsibilities as required to support organizational objectives and drive inventory excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting or 2+ years of inventory experience.

  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous data and systems analysis experience.

  • Background in project accounting.

  • SAP ERP/accounting software experience.

  • Strong commitment to customer service.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, prioritization and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work across multiple organizations in a fast paced, smaller company environment.

  • Ability to work well independently under tight deadlines.
