About Applied
Applied Materials is the leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. Our innovations make possible the technology shaping the future.
Our Team
The YTG group develops, builds, and ships advanced test systems for the display and packaging industry. These systems leverage high-speed electron beam microscopes and custom electronics to acquire signals and images, enabling complex data analysis and image processing to detect defects in memory and processor chips. The software team controls the electron beam and acquires/processes data and images, collaborating across Germany and India.
Your Opportunity:
Join us to shape the next generation of our products by driving end-to-end solutions that span software and hardware. You’ll collaborate with experts in Germany and cross-functional teams in Bangalore to deliver customer-focused outcomes, accelerate time-to-market, and uplift engineering efficiency.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and support end‑to‑end software solutions using C++ and Python on Linux, owning the full SDLC from implementation through production support.
- Build high‑quality, maintainable code with strong debugging and system‑level understanding, collaborating across functions to deliver reliable products.
- Actively explore and adopt GenAI‑based developer tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and development velocity.
- Cross-geo Collaboration: Work closely with engineering counterparts across globe.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Solution-First Mindset: Think beyond programming languages—own the customer problem and the end-to-end solution across software, hardware, and operations.
- Strong Systems Design: Experience designing systems that integrate software + hardware (sensors, motion/controls, device drivers, embedded/RT interactions).
- AI-Assisted Development: Comfortable using AI-assisted developer tooling and prompt-based workflows to accelerate design documentation, code scaffolding/refactoring, test generation, and troubleshooting—while verifying outputs and following responsible-use guidelines.
- Collaboration & Communication: Clear communicator who aligns cross-functional stakeholders and documents decisions effectively.
Qualifications:
Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields.
Experience: Typically, 4–8 years in relevant roles (exceptional candidates outside this range welcome with demonstrated system design depth).
- Proficiency in C++ (modern standards) and Python on Linux.
- Experience with system design and integration across software + hardware platforms.
- Familiarity with build tools (e.g., CMake/Make) and toolchains (gcc/clang); strong debugging/profiling on Linux.
- Exposure to testing frameworks and code quality practices (unit/integration, static analysis, formatting/linting).
Domain Plus: Background in semiconductor is a strong advantage.
Additional Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Qt for GUI/controls.
- Exposure to real-time/embedded OS and multi-processor systems.
