The Trust & Safety group plays a crucial role in protecting Apple services, customers, and developers from fraud and abuse using cutting edge technologies in Data Science and Machine Learning. As a member of the Data Lake team you will be responsible for building and maintaining our data infrastructure that helps protects our billion+ users.

Description

Our ability to acquire, use and govern data at scale is critical in our fight against fraud and abuse. Our Data Lake is at the heart of our Trust & Safety ecosystem, and is made-up of high-quality, scalable and resilient platforms and systems that support analytics, decisioning and operations.

We must we be able to quickly respond to our adversaries, and to do this we support data usage in different execution contexts such as real-time, near real-time and batch. We use a diverse range of technologies such as Spark, Flink, Iceberg Tables, Kafka, Cassandra and Kubernetes to support these data usage patterns and need expertise in those.

This is a software engineering role, where a large part of an engineer's time is spent writing code with the remainder being spent on designing and architecting systems, tuning and debugging, supporting production systems and supporting our data scientists.

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience with 4 or more years of experience

At least one year experience in relational and non-relational database systems such as Iceberg, Hadoop and Hive

Experience in designing and operating highly distributed, scalable and available systems

Excellent communication skills to facilitate requirements analysis, articulate design and schedule trade-offs

Minimum Qualifications

2 or more years experience working on large-scale, enterprise applications on Java/Scala and related technologies

2 or more years working with Spark or Flink streaming or batch applications

MS or BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
