Cellular RF Systems Architect
At Apple, our work is dedicated to creating products that connect and enrich people's lives. The Cellular RF Systems Engineering team sits at the very core of that mission, defining the wireless technologies that enable seamless experiences for hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
We are looking for a motivated and dedicated engineer to join our team and contribute to our Cellular architectures. In this role, you will be at the center of RF innovation, helping to drive the evolution of our RF architecture by optimizing current systems, defining next-generation transceiver and front-end solutions, setting critical system requirements, and developing high-performance control algorithms.
Description
As part of our industry-leading team, you will contribute to the architecture of the transceiver and front-end. You will work closely with base-band architecture teams, transmitter and receiver architecture teams, software engineering, RF design and verification teams to define and implement concepts towards our future products.","responsibilities":"Analyze line-up and optimize signal path partitioning between the RF transceiver and RF Front End to maximize performance and efficiency.
Explore new RF Front End technologies (LNA, PA, filters, etc.) and their interworking aspects with the RF transceiver.
Collaborate with Front End, Receive and Transmit teams on micro-architecture.
Analyze complex system use cases, such as SRS antenna switching and UL switching.
Develop and specify control and mapping algorithms for optimum interaction between transceiver and RF Front End.
Develop optimization algorithms for best RF performance and optimum hardware utilization in multi-SIM use cases.
Contribute to RF Front End innovation for future standards, including 6G use cases.
Collaborate with baseband system engineering teams on complex modem use cases, system requirements, and optimal system partitioning.
Contribute to the end-to-end RF system architecture, taking responsibility for key areas through simulation, automated requirements analysis, and design reviews.
Author and contribute to system architecture specifications as input to system engineering, implementation and validation teams.
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Electrical Engineering with previous work on cellular topics.
Knowledge of cellular radio standards (e.g. 5G, LTE, WCDMA) on the physical layer including RF aspects, as well as system use cases.
Understanding of key components of RF Front Ends (LNA, PA, filters, switches etc.) and their integration in Front End modules.
Experience with RF filter technologies (LC, SAW, BAW).
Power amplifier design, characterization and system usage.
Expertise in design and simulation of analog/digital signal processing paths.
Proven track record to balance innovation with the practical constraints of high-volume product development.
Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for simulation, data analysis, and automation.
Experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) for system-level trade-off analysis is a plus.
More than 5 years of proven experience in RF systems engineering, or more than 10 years of experience in communications circuit design (RF, analog, mixed-signal and/or digital).
Minimum Qualifications
BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience required.
Solid understanding of RF systems and transmitter/receiver architectures.
Strong background in math and physics, especially electromagnetic.
Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal especially in a multi-functional environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to critically evaluate system requirements to ensure robust and optimal solutions.
