As a Cellular Firmware Engineer on this team, you will be at the center of the 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware effort within a silicon design and firmware development group responsible for developing and productizing state-of-the-art cellular So Cs. This position requires someone comfortable with advanced cellular mobile technology and all aspects of cellular embedded software development, that thrives in a dynamic cross-functional organization, is not afraid to challenge what exists openly, and is flexible enough to pivot on constantly evolving requirements.

Description

You will participate in silicon bring-up, feature bring-up, and triage a multi-mode L1/PHY firmware architecture of a state-of-the-art mobile wireless communication system. You will troubleshoot and debug L1/PHY modem firmware issues utilizing AI and automation technique. You will develop triaging automation. You will optimize L1 and PHY firmware testability and debug capability. You will run data mining, extraction and formatting to monitor firmware health and debug efficiency.","responsibilities":"Triaging L1/PHY firmware bugs in collaboration with test team, firmware development team and firmware integration team.

Developing triage automation in Python and JavaScript coding in collaboration with system team and test team

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or data science with 5+ years of relevant experience in wireless communications industry is preferred.

Experience in AI/ML technology and familiar with LLM, RAG, Transformer, Claude and other AI/ML techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

BS and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience is required.

Strong understanding of 5G and 4G 3GPP standards, and competent knowledge on Layer One and Physical Layer control.

Proficiency in embedded programming language such as C and C++.

Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, JavaScript.

Experience with embedded real-time software system bring-up, debug, and test.

Skilled in debugging embedded real-time multi-core, multi-mode software systems with multiple triage techniques.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
