We are looking for a Platform Engineer with API and Infrastructure experience who has written web applications and knows how to deploy and scale code to production environments they helped create.
You will focus on the creation, deployment and reliability of AI Agents and MCP servers. With a strong passion for the latest developments in LLM and GenAI, you will participate in the feature design process with our lean and talented team. A few times a year, you will travel to meet with the team in person for a week to collaborate on new features, roadmaps, and technical discussions.

Description:

The Manufacturing Design team enables the mass production of Apple's entire product line from i Phones, i Pads and Mac Books to the Mac Pro, AppleTV, Apple Watch and Vision Pro. Part of the magic that makes all of this possible is a robust set of applications and systems designed and developed by Apple that support the production of a product from prototype to announcement and beyond.

The applications we build are used daily by the people at Apple that design our products along with those that figure out how to make them at scale. This includes; Manufacturing Design Engineers, Product Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Quality Engineers, Supply Chain Managers, along with our Suppliers. We work closely with them to design and architect the best solutions for the challenges faced when making the highest quality hardware products.

Familiar with the entire stack as it relates to AI agents and MCP servers

Support and advance development environments to reduce friction when shipping to production

Plan, develop and shape new features by collaborating with product and dev as well as users and stakeholders

Review code and collaborate on pull requests with your team members

Identify and optimize API endpoint performance and MCP server bottlenecks that affect user workflows

Plan and upgrade the application technologies to avoid technical debt

Support the troubleshooting, mitigation and fixing of production issues involving our Applications, Databases, Networks and Proxies using Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, Kibana, Wire Shark and other monitoring and debugging tools

Constantly learn and improve your own technical skills by reading code, documentation, running experiments and talking to your colleagues

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with deploying services to bare metal and cloud environments

Experience instrumenting, deploying and maintaining ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Jenkins, and/or Sentry is a plus

Manufacturing experience or exposure is a plus, but not required

A strong desire to produce high quality software through cross functional collaboration, testing, code reviews, and other best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

8+ years Go (preferred), Python, or Typescript experience

8+ years experience deploying applications using Ansible, Docker, Jenkins or related tools.

5+ years in a senior role working across the entire web stack with a skilled team

5+ years building robust HTTP API's and backend services

Pay & Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $212,000 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
