Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

As a Field Operations Engineer you will stand up, execute, and continuously improve Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) field operations. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and customer mission success - owning outcomes in the field and feeding insights back into product development.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Execute AUV Field Operations - Operate and monitor AUVs in real-time, co-ordinate launch and recovery evolutions, and execution of day-to-day operational activities.

  • Support Mission Planning & Deployment Execution – Support deployment planning end-to-end, including mission route optimisation, operational risk considerations, and equipment readiness. Identify, source, and kit required XLAUV support equipment to enable effective operations.

  • Provide Technical Support – Deliver forward technical support across software and hardware systems, leading field maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrades.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement – Develop and refine SOPs, provide structured customer feedback into engineering, and contribute to the evolution of the XLAUV capability.

  • Partner with the Customer - Support customer deployments, providing outstanding operating support and on the job training for customer users.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • Operational Ownership Mindset – You take responsibility for mission outcomes in complex, high-consequence environments and thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving field conditions.

  • Systems Thinker – You understand how hardware, software, sensors, comms, and support equipment interact, and can diagnose issues across the full stack.

  • Field-Ready Engineer – Comfortable working dockside, offshore, or in remote environments. You are able to be the conduit between engineering and the customer to provide in-field triages and fixes.

  • Customer-Centric Operator – You build trust with stakeholders, communicate clearly, and translate operational feedback into actionable engineering insights.

  • Process Builder – You don’t just execute SOPs - you improve them. You identify gaps, develop practical solutions, and raise the bar for safety, repeatability, and performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, robotics, marine systems, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, or a related field.

  • Experience supporting autonomous systems, marine platforms, robotics, or complex fielded systems in operational environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostics, repairs, system upgrades, and configuration management in field conditions.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time for field deployments, work irregular hours when required, and operate in maritime environments.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 security clearance.
