Frontend Developer – Design Systems & Product UI Specialist Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Frontend Developer specializing in Design Systems to join our Harmonic core team within the Software Product Experience group. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the Harmonic Design System for our tools while also contributing to the user interfaces of our software products.

As part of this team, you’ll help define and implement scalable, reusable components that establish the visual language and usability of our products. You’ll own the front-end development of modern software products that integrate seamlessly into our ecosystem, delivering exceptional user experiences for engineers and developers worldwide.

Beyond building and maintaining the design system, you’ll collaborate on product-level UI development, influence UI architecture, and contribute to advanced UX initiatives—making this an ideal role for frontend developers who want to combine technical excellence with creative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable, reusable, and flexible components for Harmonic that define the experience of ADI software tools using React and TypeScript.
  • Collaborate with designers to define and implement design tokens that bridge the gap between design and code.
  • Write detailed, clear, and accessible documentation for the design system using tools like Storybook and GitHub.
  • Automate CI/CD pipeline/workflows to streamline the delivery and updates of the design system.
  • Ensure components and product UIs meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and are secure by design.
  • Act as a leading voice for the Harmonic libraries, advocating for best practices in design system usage and adoption across teams.
  • Go further than implementation; organize and lead workshops, onboarding sessions, and office hours, empowering product teams to effectively use the design system.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of front-end development experience.
  • Expertise in modern web technologies such as React,TypeScript,Stencil,HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong experience in building and maintaining enterprise-grade design systems with scalable and reusable components.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD automation tools and workflows.
  • Advanced understanding of design tokens' architecture
  • Knowledge of application security principles and best practices.
  • Expertise in building accessible components that adhere to WCAG 2.2 standards.Collaboration and Communication
  • Proactive and takes initiative; comfortable experimenting and challenging assumptions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Collaborative mindset, ready to work closely with designers and engineers to solve complex problems.
  • Leadership skills to advocate for the Harmonic Design System, ensuring alignment across teams.
  • Willingness to provide constructive feedback to designers and engineers.
  • Located in a compatible timezone (GMT+1/GMT+3) to participate in Harmonic core team ceremonies.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with desktop development technologies like Avalonia UI/.Net and mobile platforms.
  • Knowledge of AI tools and AI-assisted automation workflows.
  • Basic understanding of electronic engineering.
