Job Description Role Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic finance leader to join our team in India as Senior Manager Finance. This role will act as a key partner to the Finance Head and serve as the primary back-up in leading the India finance function.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in controllership, statutory accounting, Tax, and financial governance, combined with strong leadership and business partnering capabilities. This role requires end-to-end ownership of finance operations, the ability to independently drive financial decisions, and influence senior stakeholders in a global, matrixed environment.

The Senior Manager Finance will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and scalable finance processes to support Amgen India’s growth.

Roles & Responsibilities: 1.Finance Leadership & Controllership

  • Act as deputy to the Finance Head, with the ability to independently lead the finance function when required
  • Provide leadership oversight across accounting, compliance, financial controls, and reporting
  • Ensure strong governance, internal controls, and adherence to Amgen’s global policies and frameworks
  • Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and automation of finance processes

2.Statutory Accounting & Compliance

  • Own end-to-end statutory accounting and financial compliance for Amgen India
  • Ensure full compliance with IND AS / IFRS / local GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Lead statutory audits, tax audits, and all regulatory filings (ROC, GST, Income Tax, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax filings and payments (VAT/GST, CIT, and other local taxes)
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes and proactively assess business impact

3.Financial Reporting & Close

  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of financial reporting in alignment with global accounting teams
  • Drive timely and high-quality month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Review and approve key accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Strengthen balance sheet governance and working capital management
  • Ensure adherence to global accounting calendar and reporting timelines

4. Business Partnering & Financial Planning

  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights and decision support
  • Support and review budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Analyze financial performance, identify risks/opportunities, and drive corrective actions
  • Provide strategic input on cost optimization and operational efficiency initiatives

5. Cash Flow & Treasury Oversight

  • Oversee cash flow planning, forecasting, and funding requirements
  • Ensure effective liquidity management and alignment with corporate treasury guidelines

6. Stakeholder & Audit Management

  • Serve as key interface with global finance teams, auditors, and external stakeholders
  • Lead interactions with internal and external auditors to ensure smooth audit outcomes
  • Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders on financial, compliance, and control matters

7. Projects & Transformation

  • Lead and drive finance transformation initiatives (e.g., S/4 HANA, process modernization)
  • Play a leadership role in global and regional finance projects
  • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and scalability

8. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance team members
  • Build strong succession pipeline and enhance team capabilities
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and learning-oriented environment

9. Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory frameworks, including:
  • Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
  • IFRS / GAAP
  • FCPA and other applicable regulations
  • Proactively identify and mitigate financial and compliance risks

Functional Skills: Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong expertise in financial controllership, statutory accounting, and compliance
  • Deep understanding of Indian regulatory environment and global accounting standards
  • Proven ability to lead finance operations in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Experience managing teams and driving performance
  • Ability to operate independently and make sound financial decisions

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical / biotechnology / regulated industry
  • Exposure to global capability centers or multinational environments
  • Experience in finance transformation and ERP implementations (e.g., SAP S/4 HANA)
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities
  • Experience in FP&A, business planning, and performance management.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CA / CPA (mandatory)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 7+ years of experience; OR
  • Master’s degree and 12+ years of experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of experience
  • Significant experience in controllership, statutory accounting, and compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pharma / biotech or regulated industry
  • Experience working with global finance teams and senior leadership
  • Prior experience in deputy finance leadership or similar role
  • Strong track record in managing audits and regulatory environments
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams and driving transformation
