About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Associate – Payroll Operations&** Compliance** to support end-to-end payroll operations while ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. The role will work closely with HR Operations, Finance, Payroll vendors, and employees to ensure accurate payroll processing and adherence to Indian labour and payroll regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end monthly payroll operations, including payroll inputs, validations, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian payroll and labour regulations, including PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, TDS, gratuity, bonus, and other statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate statutory filings, payments, and audits with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Validate payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and drive timely resolution.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, statutory records, and audit-ready files.
  • Support HR Operations compliance across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employment changes, and exits.
  • Monitor compliance calendars and ensure timely completion of statutory activities.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and reports for internal and external audits and support the timely resolution of audit findings and compliance observations.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and payroll vendors to resolve operational and compliance issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and automation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, HR, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in Payroll Operations and Compliance.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems, with a preference for Workday.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of Indian payroll legislation and statutory compliance.
  • Experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, and statutory reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers or shared services/GCC environments is preferred.
