About Amgen

Amgen is committed to unlocking the power of biotechnology to improve lives. With a strong foundation in science and a culture that embraces innovation, we’re advancing the development of transformative therapies through data, AI, and cutting-edge technologies.

Role Summary

The Associate Director, Product and Portfolio Management is a senior regional leadership role responsible for leading India-based teams across Product Management, Agile Delivery, and Business Performance within Amgen’s global Data & Digital Product Management capability.

Operating within a global capability model, this role is accountable for regional execution, talent leadership, and stakeholder partnership in India. The Associate Director serves as the primary leadership presence for these capabilities in the region—building strong teams, ensuring consistent execution against global priorities, and acting as a trusted connector between India-based teams and U.S. stakeholders.

This role is responsible for embedding and maturing global product management practices across India teams, coaching leaders and practitioners, and actively driving delivery outcomes. The Associate Director stays close to execution, stepping in to shape priorities, resolve dependencies, remove obstacles, and ensure critical initiatives progress with clarity and momentum.

In addition, the Associate Director leads delivery accountability across Product Management, Agile PMO and Business Performance functions. While Senior Managers manage day-to-day execution, this role owns integrated delivery across portfolios, driving planning discipline, performance transparency, and timely course correction to ensure commitments are met.

Based in India, the role works in close partnership with U.S. based Capability Leadership, serving as a critical bridge between global strategy and regional execution.

  • Build a strong leadership bench with clear role clarity, accountability, and growth paths.

  • Own hiring, onboarding, performance management, and talent development for India-based teams.

  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture aligned with global expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement, Communication and Change

  • Build and sustain trusted partnerships with India- and U.S.-based senior stakeholders, shaping alignment on priorities, trade-offs, and delivery outcomes.

  • Lead proactive communication and change efforts to drive adoption of evolving product, agile, and business performance operating models.

  • Act as the senior EDSE India representative in leadership forums and site visits, confidently articulating progress, risks, and impact while modeling Amgen values.

Portfolio, Agile PMO & Business Performance Alignment

  • Provide leadership oversight across Product Management, Agile PMO and Business Performance functions in partnership with Senior Managers.

  • Ensure integrated planning, delivery tracking, and performance insights across portfolios.

  • Maintain executive-level visibility into progress, risks, and outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

  • 16 to 20 years of experience in Information/Tech Systems

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years in senior leadership roles leading managers and multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Experience operating in a global capability, shared services, or matrixed delivery model.

  • Strong background working with product, data, and technology teams

  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe operating models and portfolio-level delivery governance.

  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders across regions and influence without direct authority.

  • Experience in data, digital, AI, or advanced analytics environments; life sciences experience is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Strong balance of strategic thinking and willingness to roll up sleeves when needed.

  • Confident and clear communicator who builds trust quickly.

  • Effective at balancing structure with flexibility in dynamic environments.

  • Team-first mindset with a commitment to shared success.
