Role Description:

Amgen is seeking a Salesforce Security Architect, a position directly related to Amgen’s global deployment of the Salesforce platform. Functioning as a Principal IS Architect, the Salesforce Security Architect provides a critical transformational role focused on safeguarding Amgen’s Salesforce environment. The Salesforce Security Architect will develop security strategy and frameworks, serving as a liaison between Amgen’s Salesforce platform team and IT product teams to ensure robust security enablement, adoption, and alignment with Amgen’s enterprise-wide Salesforce implementation. The Salesforce Security Architect will work as part of the dedicated Salesforce platform team to establish security artifacts such as secure templates and patterns (both theoretical and concrete implementations), and provide technical guidance to Business Analysts, Salesforce developers, and product owners, promoting secure design, reuse, and Salesforce platform security best practices.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Shape the security vision for Salesforce programs, providing expert advice on security strategies for projects and enabling technologies.
• Build strong relationships with product teams, contributing to broader organizational security goals and growth beyond the scope of individual projects
• Negotiate and implement solutions to complex security problems, collaborating with product teams and third-party service providers to safeguard Salesforce environments.
• Identify, assess, and proactively manage security risk areas, ensuring full resolution of issues while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
• Review Salesforce releases and roadmaps to assess impacts on security for current applications, orgs, and solutions, proactively planning for enhancements or mitigations as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex security-related implementation issues, demonstrating the ability to drive successful outcomes and lead the evaluation of business and technical security requirements at a senior level.
• Lead the development of application and technical design standards that incorporate Salesforce security best practices and seamlessly integrate Salesforce solutions into Amgen’s infrastructure.
• Offer guidance on secure application and integration development best practices, aligning with Enterprise Architecture standards, and ensuring robust functional and technical solution design, environment management, testing, and platform education.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

• Master’s degree and 12 to 15 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience OR

• Bachelor’s degree and 13 to 17 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience OR

• Diploma and 15 to 20 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills (Not more than 3 to 4):

• Extensive, hands-on experience architecting and implementing secure solutions on the Salesforce Core Platform, Sales Cloud, and Service Cloud, with a proven track record of increasing responsibility and mentoring junior technical staff in security best practices.
• Experience with Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud and understanding of regulatory requirements in the life sciences sector are beneficial but not required.
• Salesforce Admin, Advanced Admin, and Platform Builder certifications required; Salesforce Certified Technical Architect is highly desirable. Additional security-focused Salesforce certifications are a plus.
• Exceptional, context-driven communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrates proactive thinking, a strong self-starter attitude, and a commitment to continuous learning in evolving security technologies.
• Comprehensive understanding of web services, secure data modeling, and enterprise application integration concepts, including hands-on experience with secure integration tools (such as ESBs and/or ETL tools) and common secure integration design patterns for enterprise systems (e.g., CMS, ERP, HRIS, DWH/DM).
• Proven ability to analyze, design, and optimize business processes through secure technology integration, providing leadership in evaluating, rationalizing, and deploying emerging technologies for secure business use cases.
• In-depth knowledge of Service Cloud and Sales Cloud capabilities and features, with a strong focus on their security configurations and controls.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and securing custom-configured, Lightning applications, ensuring they comply with enterprise security standards.
