ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Global Benefits to lead and evolve our global benefits programs. This critical role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing employee benefits strategies EMEA and JAPAC regions, ensuring alignment with business goals and HR goals while ensuring regional and local customization and compliance. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with deep expertise in global benefits design and operations, strong stakeholder management skills, and a passion for building innovative and scalable programs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Design and lead the EMEA and JAPAC global employee benefits strategy aligned with organizational goals, local market expectations, and Amgen’s guiding principles.
- Conduct Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes and industry best practices to translate business and workforce needs into competitive and sustainable benefits offerings across all global regions.
- Support Mergers &Acquisitions (M&A): Lead benefits due diligence and integration efforts for any M&A activities
- Strategic Thinking: Set global minimum standards for benefit plans and partner with regional and country C&B leads to anticipate downstream consequences and tailor influencing strategies to achieve positive outcomes.
Program Oversight & Vendor Management
- Oversee the design, delivery, and execution of global benefits programs including medical, insurance, retirement, leave, wellness, and other perquisites.
- Ensure consistency in employee experience and program governance across all locations while allowing for local customization.
- Foster a strong relationship with global broker to ensure global approach is executed accordingly via local brokers and vendors and that review of benefit programs and partners is completely consistently.
- Lead vendor evaluation, selection, and relationship management globally
- Ensure cost efficiency, service quality, and contract performance across benefits providers
Governance & Compliance
- Maintain global benefits policies, ensure legal and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, and mitigate risks through robust governance frameworks.
- Partner with legal, finance, HR operations, and external advisors to monitor legislative changes, seamless integration and ensure compliance.
- Oversee internal and external audits and maintain meticulous records and documentation to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the Technology team to coordinate and oversee Third Party Risk Assessments (TPRA) for all technology solutions leveraged within the Benefits function, ensuring that vendor systems, applications, and integrations meet enterprise security, privacy, and compliance standards.
Analytics & Communication
- Use data and market benchmarking to assess program effectiveness, competitive design among peer groups and recommend enhancements.
- Partner with benefit operations team to drive global employee understanding and engagement through targeted benefits communication and education strategies.
- Utilize data analytics and employee feedback to understand benefits utilization, inform design decisions, and improve the employee experience.
- Prepare dashboards, reports and presentations for leadership showing critical data, trend utilization and to highlight impact and recommend improvements.
Team Development
- Cultivate leadership: Lead and develop a high performing and integrated team of benefits professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Set priorities, provide strategic direction, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Training and Development: Ensure team members have skills and knowledge to perform their job effectively, this includes mentoring individuals for long-term growth
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in benefits or total rewards, including 8+ years in global or regional leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading international teams and managing benefits across multiple regions
- Strong knowledge of benefits trends, market practices, and regulations globally.
- Demonstrated ability to build and execute global strategies while accommodating local needs.
- Skilled in vendor management, contract negotiation, and budget oversight.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Analytical mindset with a track record of leveraging data to drive decisions.
- Experience with global HRIS platforms (i.e. Workday) is preferred.
- Experience working in a large, diverse, global organization.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred to have GRP, CCP or CBP certification
