What you will do

In this vital role you will play a key role in a regulatory submission content automation initiative which will modernize and digitize the regulatory submission process, positioning Amgen as a leader in regulatory innovation. The initiative demonstrates pioneering technologies, including Generative AI, Structured Content Management, and integrated data to automate the creation, review, and approval of regulatory content.

Role Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Software Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying complex software applications, and mentoring junior developers. You will work closely with multi-functional Structured Content Authoring system teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions in a SAFe Framework. This role will involve designing complex systems, optimizing content storage solutions, and integrating third-party services to deliver robust authoring platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, architecture, development and deployment of the structured content authoring system, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance optimization
• Implement standard processes, conduct code review and provide technical guidance, mentorship to junior developers.
• Take ownership of complex software projects from conception to deployment. Manage software delivery scope, risk, and timelines.
• Collaborate closely with business collaborators to discuss requirements, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and business objectives, while effectively communicating any technical limitations or constraints.
• Contribute to both front-end and back-end development using cloud technology.
• Create and maintain documentation on software architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operations.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges effectively.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in content authoring and management, and related fields.
• Work closely with product team, business team, and other customers.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree with 4 - 6 years of experience in Computer Science
• Bachelor’s degree with 6 - 8 years of experience in Computer Science
• Diploma with 10 - 12 years of experience in Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid technical background, including understanding software development processes, databases, and cloud-based content systems.
• Experience with Python scripting, SQL queries, markup languages (XML, JSON) and familiarity with API-driven content delivery.
• Agile/Scrum experience with demonstrated success managing product backlogs and delivering iterative product improvements.
• Experience with product backlog management (e.g., Jira) and collaboration tools.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with structured content management, content models, and modular content creation.
• Understanding of international pharmaceutical regulatory submission guidelines and processes (eCTD, ICH, CDS, USPI etc.)
• Basic understanding of GenAI solutions.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams.
• High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
• Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals.
