Responsibilities

As a member of the Digital, Technology & Innovation (DTI) organization, this role provides technical and operational leadership for Emerson DeltaV and AVEVA PI Systems supporting automated manufacturing processes at Amgen Singapore Manufacturing (ASM).

The DeltaV and PI System Specialist serves as the System Owner and subject matter expert (SME) for the DeltaV system and PI environment, ensuring system reliability, compliance, and availability while enabling advanced analytics, data integration, and digital manufacturing initiatives.

System Ownership and Compliance

• Serve as System Owner for Emerson DeltaV systems and AVEVA PI System, ensuring reliability, data integrity, and continuous GMP compliance.

• Execute changes to systems under strict change control to optimize performance and maintain validated state.

• Maintain documentation and audit readiness for inspections and regulatory submissions.

• Lead system qualification, validation, and lifecycle management activities.

• Perform system changes under strict GMP change control to optimize performance and maintain validated state.

• Lead system lifecycle management in accordance with Amgen’s global standards and corporate programs.

• Conduct periodic reviews (SOPs, audit trail, access management, GMP periodic reviews etc).

• Support data integrity assessments, audit preparation, and inspection readiness activities.

• Ensure system documentation, configuration records, and validation deliverables are up to date and audit ready.

Operations and Service Delivery

• Lead service operations, including SLA negotiation, supplier management, and service performance monitoring.

• Ensure delivery service meets business and compliance requirements while maintaining cost efficiency.

• Oversee system maintenance, OS/application patching, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls aligned with enterprise security frameworks.

• Drive lifecycle planning and proactive risk management to ensure system stability and scalability.

Technical Expertise and Integration

• Lead or support troubleshooting of system and process issues with cross-functional teams (Automation, Process Engineering, Quality, and Global Platform Team).

• Drive root-cause analysis and implement preventive/corrective actions to sustain reliable operations.

• Ensure stable integration between DeltaV, PI, MES, and other manufacturing systems.

• Administer and maintain AVEVA PI components, including PI Data Archive, Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, SQL, and interfaces (OPC, EMDVB, MES, etc.).

• Manage system interfaces across the manufacturing technology stack, ensuring accurate and timely data flow.

• Collaborate with site and global teams to ensure system design and architecture align with enterprise data strategy.

Projects and Continuous Improvement

• Lead or support projects involving PI System upgrades, data migration, and new interface implementation.

• Support capital and site projects with data collection, historian integration, and performance visualization.

• Contribute to digital transformation initiatives, including data analytics, IIoT, and machine learning applications.

• Develop and implement strategies to improve system performance, data availability, and user experience.

• Identify and adopt emerging technologies that strengthen Amgen’s digital manufacturing capabilities.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Life Sciences OR

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Life Sciences and 2 years of directly related experience OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Life Sciences and 4 years of directly related experience OR

• Diploma and 8 years of directly related experience

• 10+ years of experience supporting manufacturing information systems, ideally in biotechnology or pharmaceutical operations.

• Strong background in DeltaV system design, configuration and administration.

Knowledge about PI historian systems, process automation, and data analytics for biotechnology or pharmaceutical operations.

• Experience with virtualization, server administration, and industrial network environments.

• Familiarity with OSIsoft/AVEVA PI System setup, interfaces, and performance optimization.

• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions that drive operational excellence.

• Knowledge of GAMP 5, ISA-88, and ISA-95 standards.

• Experience defining and measuring system KPIs (availability, reliability, data quality)

• Proven leadership in project execution and vendor or service provider management.

• Experience contributing to digital manufacturing, data analytics, or AI/ML initiatives.

• Independent, determined, and collaborative with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

• In-depth understanding of 21 CFR Part 11 / Annex 11, computer system validation (CSV), and data integrity requirements.

• Experience applying risk-based approaches to computer validation and system lifecycle management.

• Strong knowledge of cyber resilience and implementation of cybersecurity controls for manufacturing systems.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders across all levels.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and process improvement skills.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Emerson DeltaV Administrator Training Course certification.

• Deep knowledge of AVEVA PI System architecture, including PI AF, PI Vision, and interface configuration.

• Preferred completion of AVEVA PI System Administration training or equivalent certification.
