This role defines the Manufacturing vision, multi-year strategy, and phased capability roadmap for AIN, translating enterprise priorities into durable operating models, workforce plans, and scalable delivery capabilities that advance Amgen’s mission to serve patients.

This leader serves as the primary integration point between AIN-based Manufacturing teams and global Manufacturing stakeholders, ensuring AIN-delivered capabilities are fully embedded into enterprise standards, governance, and ways of working. The role has enterprise-level impact through end-to-end accountability for performance post go-live, inspection readiness, continuous improvement, and value delivery across quality, compliance, cost, productivity, and stakeholder outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities Strategy & Roadmap

  • Translate enterprise objectives and the Technology and Workforce Strategy (TWFS) into durable operating models, governance, workforce plans, and scalable delivery capabilities
  • Ensure AIN-based Manufacturing capabilities and services are fully integrated into global Manufacturing standards, processes, decision forums, and ways of working
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Digital/Technology, and adjacent functions to translate business needs into implemented digital, analytics, and automation solutions with measurable adoption and business impact

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant Manufacturing capabilities and services aligned with global standards and stakeholder expectations
  • Establish, negotiate, and deliver against SLAs and defined success measures with internal stakeholders and global sites; review performance through clear operating rhythms and escalation pathways
  • Oversee resource planning, demand and capacity management, budget, and operational performance to meet service, financial, and business targets
  • Deliver measurable improvements in productivity, quality, standardization, and cycle time through continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
  • Establish cross-time-zone operating norms, handoffs, and response expectations to improve throughput and reduce execution friction

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all AIN-delivered Manufacturing capabilities and services are executed in accordance with applicable GxP, regulatory, quality, and data integrity requirements
  • Maintain inspection readiness for AIN-delivered capabilities and participate in or represent the Capability Center during internal and external audits, as required
  • Establish governance with global Manufacturing leadership and AIN site leadership to review priorities, risks, performance, and escalation decisions
  • Partner with Quality, EHS, and other control functions to proactively identify, mitigate, and escalate risks
  • Champion a culture of compliance, quality, and operational excellence across all activities

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the single point of accountability and primary liaison for AIN Manufacturing capabilities and services across the global Operations network
  • Build strong cross-functional interfaces with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Process Development, EHS, Digital/Technology, and Business Services to ensure aligned execution and issue resolution
  • Ensure understanding and adoption of the Manufacturing strategy, service model, priorities, and ways of working across AIN leadership, global stakeholders, and local teams
  • Oversee vendor and third-party performance, including performance tracking, governance reviews, issue remediation, and alignment with Amgen standards and expectations

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build, scale, and sustain a high-performing Manufacturing organization in India, including leadership bench strength and critical technical capabilities
  • Attract, recruit, develop, and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, accountable, and high-engagement culture aligned with Amgen’s Leadership Attributes
  • Implement structured onboarding, capability-building, succession planning, and leadership development to strengthen long-term organizational readiness
  • Embed global standards, ways of working, leadership behaviors, and operating rhythms within the local organization to ensure seamless integration with global teams
  • Set challenging goals and defined success measures, drive accountability, and enable teams to deliver against strategic priorities

Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Attributes

  • 22 to 26 years of experience leading global or regional manufacturing organizations within a regulated industry
  • Demonstrated success building, scaling, and transitioning capability centers, shared services, or captive organizations from stand-up to steady-state operations
  • Strong understanding of GxP environments and regulatory inspection processes
  • Experience leading large-scale transformation, operating model design, and operational excellence initiatives with measurable outcomes
  • Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across geographies and functions
  • Track record of developing high-performing teams and leadership pipelines
  • Experience translating Manufacturing business needs into adopted digital, analytics, and automation solutions with measurable business impact
  • Experience leading large, matrixed global teams across time zones and cultures, including establishing governance, decision rights, and operating norms during scale-up
  • Experience owning performance through KPIs or service measures such as quality, compliance, cost, productivity, cycle time, and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Experience partnering across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Process Development, EHS, and Digital/Technology in a regulated environment
  • Experience with vendor/third-party governance, performance management, and risk mitigation
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence)
