Role Description:

The Engineering Director (Level 7a) provides enterprise leadership by developing and executing strategies across Facilities, EHS, and End to End Lifecycle Management digital platforms, systems, and data capabilities. This role serves as a critical global integration point between Global Facilities Operations & EHS functions and Amgen’s Technology organization, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise technology strategy.

This leader is accountable for enabling data-driven EHS, Facilities, and End to End Lifecycle Asset management and driving continuous improvement through strong governance, advanced analytics, and effective collaboration across regions and time zones. This role requires a deep understanding of pharmaceutical industry operations, including engineering, facilities, EHS, regulatory compliance, and quality control.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Enterprise Engineering Systems & Digital Platform Leadership

  • Define and execute the global strategy, roadmap for Facilities, EHS, and End-to-End Lifecycle Asset Management digital platforms and systems.

  • Lead platform, application, integration, and infrastructure architecture decisions to ensure scalability, resilience, security, and regulatory compliance.

  • Drive global standardization and harmonization of engineering systems across regions and sites in alignment with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.

  • Serve as the primary global interface between Engineering (Facilities, EHS, Asset Lifecycle) and Amgen Technology, ensuring alignment with enterprise digital and data strategies.

  • Translate business needs into scalable, compliant solutions while driving effective two-way communication, prioritization, and coordinated delivery across functional and technology teams.

Data Strategy, Governance, Analytics, & Insights

  • Establish and lead the enterprise data strategy for Facilities, EHS, and Asset data, including master data management, governance, ownership, definitions, and quality standards.

  • Ensure delivery of trusted, audit-ready data that supports compliance, risk management, operational decision-making, and executive reporting.

  • Oversee analytics, dashboards, and insights (e.g., Power BI) to enable proactive risk identification, performance management, and continuous improvement.

  • Sponsor automation, advanced analytics, integration, and AI initiatives to elevate data maturity, system efficiency, and operational performance.

Execution, Delivery Excellence, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead complex, cross-functional engineering and digital initiatives from design through implementation across global sites

  • Establish clear governance models, ownership structures, KPIs, and delivery discipline for systems, data, and analytics.

  • Balance innovation and continuous improvement with operational stability, risk management, compliance, and technical debt reduction.

  • Continuously identify and prioritize opportunities to improve system performance, user experience, and data value.

Global Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement and Organizational Impact

  • Provide visible, credible global leadership from the Amgen Capability Center (India), operating effectively across cultures, regions, and time zones.

  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with Global Engineering, EHS, Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Services, Digital, and Technology leaders.

  • Influence without authority, communicate with clarity, and drive alignment across complex stakeholder environments.

  • Deliver outcomes that directly impact regulatory compliance, workforce safety, operational continuity, and confidence in enterprise data.

Functional Skills:

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading global teams and partnering with enterprise Technology organizations

  • Strong expertise in master data management, data governance, analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI), and collaboration tools (e.g., Share Point)

  • Enterprise and continuous improvement mindset with strong execution discipline

  • Excellent communicator who can bridge technical and business audiences

  • Proactive leader who anticipates risk and enables safe, scalable solutions

  • Strong sponsor of change and continuous improvement

Good to Have Skills

  • Transformational leader experienced in driving digital and process change across regulated environments

  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and EHS Digital Platforms (e.g. Sphera, Cority, or Enablon)

  • Proven program and portfolio leader, experienced in managing complex, cross-functional initiatives in regulated settings

Collaborative and influential, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution while sustaining effective team dynamics.​

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Doctorate degree / Master’s degree with 18+yrs of Industrial experience.

  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.
