Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst

LIVEWHAT YOU WILL DO

In this role, you will operate at the intersection of platform analytics, data engineering, and business insight, supporting Amgen’s enterprise Product & Portfolio Management (PPM) platform (Planisware).

This position is designed for a hands-on data practitioner who can both execute analytics work and inform the long-term data strategy for the platform. You will work closely with platform owners, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that Planisware data is trusted, scalable, and actionable.

You will play a key role in enabling enterprise decision-making across portfolio planning, resource management, and forecasting, helping translate complex platform data into meaningful insights.

Responsibilities: Own and deliver platform analytics use cases

  • Develop dashboards, datasets, and analytical outputs to support portfolio and resource decision-making

  • Translate business questions into structured data solutions

Shape and evolve the Planisware data model

  • Understand and influence core data structures (projects, resources, financials, timelines)

  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve data design and usability

Partner with data engineering and platform teams

  • Collaborate on data pipelines, ingestion patterns, and transformations (e.g., EDF, Databricks)

  • Ensure alignment between source system (Planisware) and downstream analytics layers

Drive data quality and governance

  • Define and monitor data quality rules, lineage, and consistency across integrations

  • Support governance forums with data insights and recommendations

Enable scalable analytics architecture

  • Contribute to building reusable data models, semantic layers, and reporting patterns

  • Support integration of Planisware data into enterprise analytics ecosystems

Support platform evolution

  • Provide data-driven input into platform roadmap, enhancements, and new capabilities

  • Act as a bridge between business needs and technical implementation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree & 2 years of Information Systems experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree & 4 years of Information Systems experience OR

  • Associate’s degree & 10 years of Information Systems experience OR

  • High school diploma/GED & 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or Life Sciences.

  • Experience with COTS applications and knowledge of the life sciences or biotech/pharma industry.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to understand business domains and translate requirements into technical solutions.

  • Familiarity with Planisware, SQL, data analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau).

  • Understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps, Waterfall).

  • Project management or business analysis experience in a global, cross-functional environment.
