Job Description

Join Amgen's Mission to Serve Patients

If you feel like you’re part of something bigger, it’s because you are. At Amgen, our shared mission to serve patients drives all that we do. It’s key to our becoming one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. We are global collaborators who achieve together—researching, manufacturing, and delivering ever-better products that reach over 10 million patients worldwide.

It’s time for a career you can be proud of.

What You Will Do

As an Expert UX & Web Designer within the Scientific Communications team of the Global Medical Organization, you will create innovative, engaging, user-focused, and compliant scientific and digital content. This content will span all therapeutic areas (General Medicine, Inflammation, Oncology, Rare Disease, Obesity), tailored to global audiences via impactful formats and relevant channels.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Graphic Design (India), you will deliver UX frameworks, digital congress hubs, interactive tools, dashboards, websites, and graphic design projects—ensuring visual consistency and creative excellence across medical communications (print and digital).

You will collaborate cross-functionally and globally to execute tactical digital and UX strategies, supporting Amgen’s medical and product goals. You’ll also partner with Scientific Communications, IT, and other teams to drive UX best practices, digital innovation, and AI-enabled workflows.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive, engaging, and responsive UX/UI solutions for digital scientific platforms.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and design systems for scalable, consistent experiences.
  • Translate complex scientific content into user-friendly digital formats.
  • Develop congress microsites, dashboards, interactive learning tools, and engagement platforms.
  • Use analytics, heatmaps, and user testing to optimise user journeys.
  • Produce high-quality visual and multimedia materials (e.g., posters, abstracts, infographics, PLS, slide decks, interactive PDFs, MoA schematics).
  • Stay current on digital trends, AI, accessibility standards, and workflow automation.

What We Expect of You

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The dynamic professional we seek is a manager with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Media, or related field with 6+ years of experience in user-centric digital design, preferably in healthcare/pharma.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with 8+ years of experience.

Must-Have Skills

  • Expertise in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, In Vision, or similar tools.
  • Strong experience in responsive web design, prototyping, and design systems.
  • End-to-end web development skills (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue), including back-end integration and cloud hosting.
  • UX research, usability testing, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 3.0).
  • Adobe Creative Cloud and PowerPoint for scientific/medical communication materials.
  • Experience with analytics tools, heatmaps, and usability testing.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and data privacy regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with medical experts, content managers, IT, and product teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in pharma or medical communications, especially scientific storytelling and HCP engagement.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools, motion graphics, AR/VR, and voice interfaces.
  • Exposure to modular content, searchable formats, and metadata tagging for omnichannel delivery.

Soft Skills

  • User-first mindset and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Effective collaboration in global, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong presentation skills to communicate design decisions.
  • Self-driven, agile, and adaptable in a fast-paced digital environment.
  • Innovative thinking and passion for continuous learning.
